Hello. I hope you can answer a few questions of mine COOKIES What are cookies? Are they good or bad or both? Where are cookies found? How do cookies affect browsing? CACHE What is cache? How does cache affect browsing? And if you have other information not in the questions, Please do post it. I really would like to know about these matters
Cookies are just bits of information websites leave behind for your browser and the website to use at a later time. They are not inherently bad. They can store info like login sessions, etc. Some ad companies use them to know where you are going on the internet and tailor ads to better suit the target of certain websites. Some people get kind of paranoid and don't like the idea of companies tracking them... but there isn't any real personal info stored, the company in question doesn't really know that John Smith from Boston, Mass. visited Romulation.net and then went to a porn site for a few hours. It's stored on your computer, usually in a file in your browser's directory. They can be cleared out in the browser's options. Cookies make browsing generally faster, allowing you to skip logins, etc. Cache is storage for temporary downloaded files, etc. Browsers will download data from a website, store it in cache, and then the next time it wants to download the data it just loads it from cache. This is faster, since you don't have to download the page/data again. But it also means the data might not be up to date. Forcing a refresh will make your browser download the data again. Like cookies, Cache is stored on your computer, usually somewhere in your browser's directory or in the windows Temp folders. It can be cleared out through the browser's options, or through the use of programs like CCleaner. That's the basics. I'm sure there is other info or more detailed info available, but it's not really important for the most part.
i would set your cache to 0 or off unless you have dial-up or wanna take up space on your computer.. i havent seen any other reason why you'd want it on other than those reasons cookies are fine 99% of the time, i usually delete mine once a day out of habit
