Power issue with my PSP

I don't know if anyone can help with this but it's worth asking.

For a few months now I haven't been able to play my PSP, due to it seemingly not recognising the battery. It's a bit complicated, but I'll try to explain simply.

When I put the battery in my PSP it turns on for a few seconds and then turns off. At first I thought it might have bricked since I run a hacked firmware (5.50 GEN D3) but when I have the power cable in it seemed to work. I speak in the past tense because now even with the cable in it just runs out of power. When it worked with the cable it the battery would read 100% but as soon as I took the cable out it would switch off.

    Here's some additional information:

    - I use a USB cable to charge it, I've been thinking that maybe the voltage output isn't high enough?
    - It's a PSP Phat
    - The firmware has been hacked
    - The Battery is official and not a fake
    - Nothing drastic happened before it stopped working, it just gave out.

Now, I'm thinking it might be one of three problems, although I'm by no means a tech expert:

    1) The Battery has gone dead, but then that doesn't explain why it would read 100% when the power cable is in.
    2) The charging cable doesn't work properly
    3) There is a problem with the motherboard

I'd appreciate it if anyone could mull this problem over and perhaps offer some solutions. If anyone needs extra information just ask.

    Cheers in advance.

I've done that, it used to work but doesn't any more for some reason.

Solution 1 is not correct. Solutions 2 and 3 can be correct.

I believe it's dead, the only way to confirm is to have another battery...an official one, all the 3rd party ones last 5 mins in my hands and die.

My wireless keyboard + maxell brand batteries = no connect.

I don't know why but it just refuses to connect to the receiver.

Anyhow, as hYpNoS said, do a check to confirm if it's dead or not.

To save starting a new thread-I have a similar problem....

PSP wont boot up off the battery. The green light stays on but thats all.The green light doesnt go out/off until I remove the battery.

If I take out the battery and use the power cord,it boots up ok and it shuts down ok.

Ive stuck in my dual purpose Tool battery and the PSP acts normal.

So Im wondering if the original battery is either fucked or if it has somehow changed into a Pandora one.
