Pokemon Platinum renaming sav file?

I finished the japanese Pokemon Platinum and now have the english Pokemon Platinum thanks to you guys, BUT I am asking about how to use my japanese save file on my english Pokemon Platinum. Thanks if you help or support.

 

Rename the save file to the exact name of your new rom file.

 

Wow I always thought of doing that, but would it actually work? and would your ROM be corrupted? I've always been too scared to attempt this

 

You can always try, just keep a backup of your save before doing so. Also, it should still work, since all the FAT functions remain the same or they should in each region release.

Shrug, its worked for me before when repatching Jump Ultimate Stars =p

No the ROM shouldnt be corrupted, what would renaming the save file have to do with the rom being corrupted?

 

After renaming the Japanese sav file to the english one, everything worked out fine except for the pokemon you caught because they will be in japanese names. This shouldn't mess up your ROM.

It does work, no problem. But I never tested on other games.

 

it should work on any game, as long as they are directly related

ie. language differences (should work, cause if they can connect to each other and play, then the game itself kinda has to be the same?)
versions (like Diamond/Pearl, there's no REAL difference other than the game data itself i believe)

 

The saving method would not change between versions.

 

Some games it doesn't work
