Pokemon HG: Machine Part?

    Okay, I'm having trouble finding the machine part in Misty's Gym. I beat the Team Rocket Grunt at Route 24, and in my old Gold game, I went to the gym to find it, but I have no idea where it is. Do you have to do anything after battling the Grunt?

    search on the upper left part of the gym,ON THE LIFERINGS
