Pokemon Heartgold .sav file works with Pokemon Soul Silver and vice versa

Recently there has been a translation patch which involves transferring the entire dialogue from the U versions of Pokemon to the Jap versions of Pokemon. I noticed something strange. Maybe people already know about this... but when i finished patching both roms i accidentally renamed my soul silver .sav file to heart gold .sav file. When i opened heart gold the soul silver .sav file still worked on it. what does this mean in terms of catching ho oh or lugia. when i reach that part will my game just suddenly kerplut?

PS: i started the game on Soul Silver.

Any input on this matter will be appreciated.

oh wow u got it soon i have been doing this from diamond and pearl

but u cannot catch lugia in soul silver i think so if u r using heart gold save file

 

So my game wont randomly crash on me then? when i reach lugia or ho oh(depending on which game the save file came from.)
