Pokemon Heartgold help!

Hello everyone, I'm relatively new here, and I decided to give Pokemon roms a go, and came here. Now I downloaded the N$gba emulator, from Emulation-Zone, and then I downloaded the Pokemon heartgold rom from here. After I put it in, made all the settings correct, I started playing. Now my problem is this. After you do the introduction with oak asking about yourself, where u choose whether your a boy or girl, and your name, and then the big character transfers into the small sprite, the screen goes black...but I still the hear the sound. Now is it just something I'm doing wrong? or is the game not working properly for everyone? Please, any help is appreciated, thank you!

common problem, the new pokemon game has that, hopefuly someone finds a way to patch it up. for now just wait.
