well the ditching dairy is a bit to much....
i read that cows need to be milked, or else they get some sort of disease....so....
i think the cows are glad to give milk, but obviously don't want to get beaten for their free (sevices) milk....

It causes great discomfort for them, but nothing else really.

 

Agreed. They don't milk them too much or too little or the cow can get pain in the utters or some other pain and discomfort. Learned it from Discovery Channel
