My playstation 3 is able to pick up wireless from my neighbor's wireless network with a signal of around 45-50% but every time I try to browse internet or sign into PSN I get an error of 80710102 (DNS error). I have been unable to resolve it, despite the manual and multiple google readings. They have DHCP set up, but my ps3 was unable to find an ip address when i used the internet connection test. I entered one manually and then began getting the above information. I typed in the DNS server from the laptop's ipconfig screen, so i know it's right, but I have as yet been unable to even connect to the internet to browse, let alone sign into the PSN network. Any ideas? -jason
Maybe their router is actively refusing to assign your PS3 an IP address? You can setup routers to only allow so many connections, and you can set them up to deny certain MAC Address or only allow certain MAC Addresses. Or the DHCP server could be disabled and the router isn't assigning IP Addresses, instead the computers have to be pre-configured to connect to the router.
I manually entered one and it just refuses to allow the DNS router through. I have her permission to use the wireless and she knows I want to use it for PS3 connections. She has no security on it and didn't edit any settings, so unless it denies ps3 connections straight out of the box, I don't think this is the problem. It's a NETGEAR if that helps, no idea about the serial number or anything like that. No idea what to do now, and I can't really see any reason why it's not working... anymore ideas? -jason
Friend of mine just resolved a DNS errror with his PS3 with a wireless router and all he done was a hard reset on the PS3 and tried the connection again and it started working.
