I've been going crazy for the last few hours. I literally have 3 Sega Mega-Drive II consoles with 2 RF devices/cable that allow me to play the Mega-Drive without a AV Cables. The weird thing is that both RF devices/cables aren't working. One of the RF devices/cables give perfect picture without sound, while the other RF device/cable gives perfect sound without picture...What are the odds of that! Anyway, I know that none of my power supplies are the problem, and I know it's not my TV that's the problem (As I've tried the Mega-Drive another TV with the same problem). Does anyone have any clue why the RF connection isn't working for me? What are the odds that both my RF cables don't work? Also I have been browsing around on Ebay Australia and have found these AV cables that will work with my Mega-Drive, but before I purchase the AV cables....I would like to know why I'd be getting these troubles in the first place. Thanks in advance, Raysie.
Has other RF devices worked before? Try another device (like an n64 or NES) and see... I'm sure my old nintendo RF connections would work still if my tv had those connections. Could just be age/wear and tear/dust
this is very odd, since rf sends both sound and video down the same wire. I cant think what would cause it. I personally use an AV cable for my megadrive.
Yes, RF worked fine when I put the TV aerial in it. I also tested the Mega-Drive on another TV of mine and still got the same problem. I would try, but it's 9:15AM on the 1st January 2010....and I've got a somewhat hangover that is negating me from testing out the RF connection for my N64, but I'm pretty sure the RF connection would work fine. It most likely is why the cable/devices don't work. I might just give the pins a very good clean and see if I have any luck. That's why I was so surprised when I found one RF cable worked great for Picture and the other worked great for Sound, but yeah, if I still can't fix this problem I'll jyst buy a pair of AV cables for it off ebay. Yeah, I certainly am. As I've had this issue with not only the one TV. I've even tried fine tuning to see if maybe the sound/picture wasn't showing because it wasn't the right frequencey. It's a bit sad, as I recently setup a retro kind of TV setup in my room yesterday that is using a 90s TV, PS1, N64 and DC. It just ins't complete for me without my Mega-Drive working beside them. Anyway thanks for the help guys.
