Could Seph or Loonylion or an other member or staff who have to police content on RomUlation please define what PG-13 means as far as posting goes, also when linking to material that is not PG-13 (such as an internal 16+ rom) what criteria should posters use?.

You can pretty much go by common sense. And the MPAA definition of PG-13.

    http://www.mpaa.org/flmrat_ratings.asp

This combined with the forum rules.

Thanks TrirhRR. I guess that RomU has and will censor all conversation and debate beyond the external definition that you give. Or is there an actual internal policy? Forgive me to misunderstand but given the PG-13 statement above, am I to think that it is not acceptable to say fuck, or to post information on any game that may use the word fuck or may contain content that is sexually offensive or brutally objectionable, such as the 18+ games hosted on RomU?

    Common sense, it is not.

we dont have a specified policy, but I tend to go by what I would or wouldnt want my 13 year old kid exposed to (not that I have one).

You're allowed to swear if it's appropriate and not excessive, but you're ranting about something or generally just expressing negative feelings towards something then no one is going to fault you.

It's sort of hard to define exactly what is and isn't allowed but the idea behind it is more of a modern version of the film ratings (really they don't fit modern children :p) So no nudity, no very graphic talk or very excessive swearing. And should one be just barely on the wrong side of the fence then we'll tell rather than warn.

I can understand where this is coming from.

Many user I see are 13 or younger, and they are exposed to this...depending on where (like tech help section-they might stroll into an obviously restricted topic)

Wether some of the debates or just some of the games we are talking about like left for dead...
I do try to censor what I say, but like at home it's not gonna be perfect, sooner or later everyone learns a swear or is exposed to something they shouldn't.

I guess all we can do is be careful with our words, report to a mod if it's bad, and hope for the best.

(Sorry but this topic interested me)

I'm thirteen, learning weird stuff from school...... It's really hard to be a good boy and not swear, even on internet forums.

It's really common sense to what should and shouldn't be seen/said on the forum. Just pretend you're in the real world, you wouldn't show a child pornography or swear at anyone...so why do it here?

A person generally knows when something they'll say/show is allowed or not, whoever doesn't is litterally doing it on purpose.

So can I say the F word once every thread? That's the rule for films. :p

    But putting it that way...no.

I avoid saying F*** or S*** or those one's...as long as 'crap" and "Snuggle" exist I'm fine :)

So it's all a matter of substitution. :p Okay. I was just checking to flex the rules to it's moral limits. Looks like I cant. :p

If it fits in, it's hard to rant about something without using a few swear words. But if it's being used just for the sake of using it then I'd discourage it.

13 year olds have the worst mouths of all... I think the majority of you are forgetting your teenage years...

And those younger and quite nice, if a little...short of intellect at times due to age.

But the ones here are an example of the better :)

Some 13yr's aren't that bad...but I do see what you mean.

Why should the tech help section be forbiden to kids under 13? I understood techie stuff when I was little! ;v)

Tech help isn't forbidden to the tots. Some children are smarter, and mentally "advance" faster than others. Mainly, I would guess, this is to avoid clutter and questions that make little sense.

Example: My game no works, how do I work it?

Kids are fine for the most part(though they can be bitterly cruel and spiteful)
It's only to ensure the integrity of the area's content.
    That's all.
