How well will it be able to run on my newer laptop? My specs are CPU:AMD Phenom II 2.9 GHz Dual Core Processor Ram:4 GBs of Ram GPU:2 GBs ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics Space:320 GB Hard Drive OS:Windows 7 Premium and a 50 dollar cooling fan to keep it cool So how will the PCSX2 run with this baby?
Though it was not recommended to run PCSX2 on laptop, You should be able to run most games at considerable speed, and with less issues. Make sure to use the latest release. http://pcsx2.net/
RPG's mostly run ok btw, you will have no chance with, say, call of duty. I get nearly all RPG's at full speed and the rest is hit and miss.
Yeah I did hear games like Devil May Cry,Grand Theft Auto,Midnight club etc. will not run too well even on the more powerful computers.I'm mainly aiming for games like Final Fantasy X,Persona 3 & 4,Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2,Dark Cloud 1 & 2,Disgaea etc. BTW a buddy of mine has a laptop with these specs CPU:AMD Athlon II Dual Core Processor 2.3 ghz Ram:3GB Hard Drive:320 GB GPU:1.5GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics OS:Windows 7 Premium And he has a fan too.Kind old though How well will his laptop be able to handle PCSX2?
FFX and persona 3 run perfect except for cutscenes on ffx are sort of weird, the actual gameplay is fine and p3 gets slight slowdown entering a fight. Mines a quad core 2.2 but pcsx2 doesn't take advantage of multicore so the higher the single core the better I suppose, its best to check on their website for that though. http://pcsx2.net/ EDIT: It may be just quad core they dont take advantage of not multicore, I really cant remember, I just know I got the shitty deal, it may well do duo core.
it's a dedicated laptop chip. More likely to cause a problem is the heat generated while running the emulator.
BTW, I just go the latest version about a week ago and GTA san andreas went from 22fps to 35fps, its worth checking you have the latest version if you have used it before the last couple of weeks.
Hmm..... the new build is easier on the FPS?Sounds awesome. @Loonylion I have a fan to keep my laptop cool.
It can be dedicated if the manufacturer of the laptop decided to sideport some memory into it, but it's unlikely, laptop manufacturers are stingy like that. As far as I know though, the 4250s tend to be onboard.
I guess your right. There's no significant difference in hardware between me and my buddy's.Although truth is I'm still waiting for my lappy to come in the mail and my buddy already got his the other day. He'll be glad to hear most RPG's will run well..... BTW did you use any speedhacks?
Every one. Thats why the cutscenes are weird on FFX, gameplay is unaffected though,, ive got over 30 hours in without a problem.
Hey how will this laptop fair with the PCSX2? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Pentium%26%23174%3B+Processor+/+14%22+Display+/+3GB+Memory+/+320GB+Hard+Drive+-+Black/1616075.p?id=1218273045570&skuId=1616075 Instead of the 400 dollar lappy I had my eye on how about the one in the link above?
does it have to be a laptop? you'd likely be better off with a desktop because any laptop could overheat running PCSX2, there's no way of knowing in advance if it will or not.
I'd love to get a desktop but the problem is there's not much room in my home for one.So it has to be a laptop.I did however tried the PCS2 on my current laptop that falls below the minimum requirement(Processor and GPU wise)It never overheated thnks to my new fan. So yeah truth be told when I played games like P4,Kingdom Hearts,FFX etc. on my current build and truth be told it didn't run too bad. Most of those games would gimme about 20 to 45 FPS 20 if I'm in outside spaces and about 45 and up whenever I was inside buildings, dungeons etc.My current laptop's processor is intel celeron 2.2 GHz and my GPU is a 4 series family express chipset at 1.3 GB So yeah I'm just asking on how well the laptop above would fair since it's better than my current one.
