laptop, i plugged my wireless adapter and its said i should plug it to a high speed usb hub...
i bought earlier a pcmcia usb card with a word saying nec chip inside and usb2.0..i thought it was going to make the usb hubs 2.0 but its just additional hubs 1.1 or something. not high speed.

thats what i get for buying something cheap.

any other stuff i should buy?

A PCMCIA card should be a controller, not a hub, so that card should give you USB2.0 a hub basically plugs into an existing controller and gives you more ports, so either the device you plugged into the card is USB 1.1, or the sticker is wrong and its not USB 2.0. I have never heard of a PCMCIA USB hub.

by the way, only the ports on the card will be USB2.0. the built in ones are stuck at 1.1

I bought it from this store here in our country. here is the link: http://www.cdrking.com.ph/
and here is the product: PCMCIA USB Card Nec. when i read it, i thought it was a hub that will will make the usb hub 2.0...

so, any other pcmcia card will make my usb port 2.0?

no, it is not possible to make your existing ports USB2.0. All you can do is add a card that adds some USB2.0 ports in addition to the USB1.1 ports you already have. The four ports on that card are USB 2.0, however you must also connect the power cable to one of your USB 1.1 ports. Also you might need drivers for USB 2.0 mode. What version of windows do you have (and service pack?)

Now i bought a new pcmcia which has a port that has 2.0.

well, i'll still answer the question, i have a xp home, sp3

OK. Windows XP prior to SP1 or SP2 (not sure which, I think SP1) did not natively support USB 2.0, and support was added in one of the service packs.
