PC refuses to read any discs

    well here is my problem, after i got my PC i upgraded windows vista home basic via the standart software update, now im faced with a problem no matter what i do the PC wont read any of my DVD or CD, im trying to install the drivers for my epson printer and it wont read a disc, i insert other CD's and DVD's and nope the CD/DVD unit says 'please insert a disc' even if inside the reading unit there is one

    you "upgraded"? LMAO..more like you downgraded! i recommend switching to Windows 7...

    oh you're trying to install drivers? yeah if you can't install by disc then you have to do it manually. do you know what kind of motherboard you have? tell me and I can help give you correct drivers

    well for SOME people who CAN'T AFFORD WINDOWS 7 just stick with vista. I mean windows 7 isn't much of an "upgrade" from windows vista. all it does is just add some unnecessary features to which will be useful if you are some kind of business CEO or something.

    im not sure what motherboard i have, there is something similar to macintosh hardware utility, which shows info about every piece of your mac?

    its the default software it came with all i did was to install the software updates

    Is there the yellow triangle in device manager.
    Have you tried to updateroll back driver in there also.

    Windows 7 is a HUGE upgrade from vista.
    XP would be an upgrade if you have vista. Seriously, I have all 3.

    im just starting with windows, i ahvent touched a windows computer in let me think 8-10 years.

    there is no triangle there all i have is:

    software update, sound admin, synaptics pointing device, inter graphics accelerator, how much battery i have and the red app and the clock.

    your drive may have died. Try putting a lens cleaning disc in it.

    Even new devices can die.

    Try the lens cleaning disc.

    how do i do that, since its a laptop im not sure how to do so, can i use any type of cloth with water or do i need a specific product?

    also lookin the mirror it says it has the latest version of the software i made a vid im uploading to YT

    Just pick a cleaning disc for laptops.

    I suppose you could uninstall it in the pic I posted,then reboot windows should reinstall it.But there are a few people that have had problems with this because they need specific Vista drivers.

    And what sort of language is the video in-I couldnt fathom anything out pal.

    Nah,you will be removing hardware,so after reboot Windows should detect it and install it.Then if theres a problem with the driver,you should get the yellow triangle....

    Windows knows EVERY device, so even yours.

    When that doesn't work clean the drive.
