Don't worry, you'll get cake eventually. Yes, part of The Orange Box set, this is another one of Valve's game. The story of this game in a nutshell, you awake at a science research facility running through tests for them. Unfortunately for you, you discover that you are just another one of their disposable lab rats. Having to escape the facility alone, well not really, the crazy computer that tries to kill you will very so often keep you company with creepy yet amusing remarks. This game is not so much of action but more to puzzle solving. You only have one weapon, if you would call it that. A gun that is able to open up portals letting you teleport through places. Thinking is vital in this game. You have to be creative and intelligent in figuring out how and where to use the portals in order to achieve your goal. From opening portals behind droids and sneaking up on them, or maybe teleport an energy ball to smack them dead. It's all up to you. This game is good in the sense that the concept is unique and would be somewhat of a new experience. The bad is this game does not feauture multiplayer and is a litle too short. Presentation: On the first look, it's more or less the first half-life with better graphics. The level design is well done but gets repetitive. (8/10) Graphics: Not half-bad. Not as good as half-life 2's graphic but still it's not bad. (7.9/10) Sound : Pretty good sound effects and music that matches the setting of the game. (10/10) Gameplay: Feels more or less like playing half-life 2 with only the gravity gun, take away most of the monsters and add in a lot more puzzle. (8/10) Lasting appeal: 2-3 hours of gameplay to finish. Longer if you're not very bright at puzzle games. And another 2-3 more hours to acquire those (7/10) Overall score: (40.9/50) achievement rankings or mess around. Closing comments: Sort of an "extras" in The Orange Box set this game is pretty good. Some of you may be wondering, so yes, The OrangeBox is quite woth it. Watch/hear the credit song "Still alive" on YouTube. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ljFaKRTrI And the sort of training video http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=if3Qv2tHyfA The cake is a lie!
Re: [PC] Half-Life: Portal Oh yeah, this game is awesome. You didn't follow the rules for properly posting a review, though. (THE CUBE IS FOREVER)
Ok right I think I fixed most of it. If there's any problem let me know what. And if it's too short, well...there's nothing much else to say. The game itself is short.
have any of you played any of the mod maps made by player or w/e. There pretty fun and FO FREE <.< more or less the reason I repicked up this game after beating it. -AS
I think it's impossible for Portal to be multiplayer. The game itself is designed so that you are the only person ever mentioned in the game. What would be the goal in a multiplayer version? Maybe a race to get to the elevator first?
My friend showed me a mod that changes the portal gun into a bazooka. and you become the hero in the real half life.
