this is just the beginning. if things continue then pc gaming will truly die. it's 1984 again.

PC gaming wont die, stop being such a pessimist. Or maybe you have an ulterior motive? I'm starting to wonder.

Pc gaming isn't dying or isn't even close to.

As long as they're still making PC games (which they are) PC gaming won't die. Even if it's console ports, even those ports nowadays are getting better.

The lack of dedicated servers sucks (even if it isn't the developer who's hosting). At least the only PC games I play (Valve games) will always have dedicated servers. :>

I think ultra posted this becoz he wants it to die, but lets face it.
    It will die.
It started to die when PS2 was out, when consoles could dominate PC with their graphics.
I think most people think PC as a MMO Console right now.

consoles can't dominate PCs graphically. The PS3 has the most graphics power of all consoles, and that is equivalent to a 7 series geforce. Its miles behind PCs.

    If you are Bill Gates.
Consoles offer insert-play technique, while PC's offer little bur crucial details and new hardware regularly.
So you cant play AC2 with your AC playing PC (example) but you can with your Ps3.
Thats game, steam's pain and extra money.

Precisely why i like consoles better than pc

No serious PC gamer would still be using a 7 series graphics card now, they'd be using an 8 series at least, and more likely a 9 series. The 7 series is 2005 technology.

    ...

    This ain't anything to fear...

And pc-despite not being idiot proof, are still gonna be popular, never die, NEVER!

Pc gaming has been around for a long time-not sure (correct me if wrong) but wasn't it around before consoles?

Oh, come on. Two games shunning dedicated servers for the PC does not mean the end of PC gaming.

    Jesus Christ, get some perspective.

i did not mean that pc gaming was dead though it will possibly lead to that if it does continue futher. but what i did mean was that what one would typically find on a pc game would no longer exist in future pc games.

here is a good example of what to expect,
a modern warfare 2 pc user review from amazon by nathan risto,

do you not notice that there has been so many things gone. now you have id with their rage game who may or may not follow suit. it is very distressful for those who game on the pc as steps for such actions have already take effect prior to what infinity ward and activision has done with modern warfare 2.

what did you thought about the hostility of drms are for that were coming from pc gamers? pc gamers were hostile for a reason. again, pc gamers are totally screwed if this continues.

you know what the 360/ps3 does better then the pc? drm! this is why there is more pc developers making 360/ps3 games as opposed to pc games. these developers want you to pay full price for their games. what's even worse is the idea of digital distribution. once that happens 360/ps3 owners no longer have a mouth, only a rear hole for the company to come in and out.

You'll notice that you mentioned a specific company; Activision. They do not represent the PC gaming industry, they are one of the most fucked up publishers in the entire business, alongside EA.

Digital distribution will not replace hard media any time soon, large proportions of the client base of these consoles do not have and cannot get internet connections fast enough to make it viable.

did you know that infinity ward was the developer for modern warfare 2 and did you know they were in full support for what they were doing for the pc gamers?

blizzard will follow the same path and here you have id who may consider such a move. so not only do you have activision and then some, but you also have other developers in potential support.

remember that onlive platform? how many developers and publishers were in high support for the onlive platform?

i understand your hostility, but please keep an open eye.

from drm to this fiasco of modern warfare. everyone followed the company that made drm and drm was favored and everyone followed. i wonder if the same will happen with the modern warfare 2 pc fiasco.

Dedicated severs are already up so MW2 is not the end.
    However;
MW2 for PC will be monthly paid.
ACTBLIZ said that they got %6 of the profit from PC.
You cant use piracy at consoles (yes, you will get a ban, just like that other 1.5M) so consumers must buy their games, at PC you can download a game for its SP and blah blah.

Again, PC boxed gaming is dying. MMO games will be still active though.
