Fable The Lost Chapter Rating- Mature Genre-Action/Rpg Developer- Lionhead Studios/Microsoft Game Studios About a month ago i picked this game up to see if it was any different from its predecessor on the xbox. I can assure you all the good content is still here, and the bonus content rocks. This time I decided to change my approach on what system I bought this game on considering Microsoft released it on both the xbox and pc, the latter of the two being the one that I bought. Its quite amazing how much the lost chapters for the pc outshines the xbox version in many different areas all of which I shall begin to explain in this review. Graphics- I must say that this game is simply stunning for its generation of games. Its no Cod4 or assassin's creed but if you have the right equipment on your pc, this game can be quite beautiful. Every aspect of the game, from the bright plated armor you have on to the leaves on the ground have been fine tuned in this awesome pc title. If you're still running on a slightly older model I should recommend the xbox version, otherwise gamers, this game will make your eyes blush like a little school girl on her first date. Also, the pc version loads areas pretty much instantly whereas the xbox version might take a couple seconds, but as a gamer and very impatient individual I know every second counts. Sticking to tradition, My character ingame relied heavily on the use of magic, which of course looks brighter, more detailed and quite fun to use, especially the leveled up lightning ability which is like a thunderstorm of epic proportions bound to give you a seizure if used to much. Sound- I didnt really a notice a difference in the music from the first title and this one. Needless to say this is nothing to worry about considering fable had a very nice soundtrack, one with music that put you in the moment of the game, delivering the mood and giving you the feeling as if you were living the life of your character. I do beleive there are new voice overs to the game though, along with a couple familiar voices from the original, all very well done and topped off with those wonderfully familiar accents. This game sounded quite well coming out of my new logitech surround system speakers. Gameplay- The aspect of gameplay in fable is one those of the pc gaming types will appreciate. For those who played the xbox version, the controls might take some getting used to. Other than that, it took me but an hour before I was multi-casting on the run, and racking up a huge combat multiplier so have no fear of this title's controls. I especially enjoyed cycling through my spells with the roll of my mouse wheel, which gave me freedom of choice for how to obliterate my enemies, and how better to fare against the many bosses of the game. Again I relied heavily on the use of magic. The controls are what you would expect, WASD being movement, the mouse controlling the camera, left click for attack, right click for running, q and r taking out either your flame augmented solus greatsword, or your piercing augmented arken's crossbow, not to brag or anything. Of course if you had a different scheme in mind the buttons could be tuned to your liking at the options menu. Another thing I liked about the lost chapters is the handy number keys 1-9 which could be assigned to just about anything from items, to your gestures (my favorite being the flamenco dance aha), or even magic. The customization of this game like the last gives you what gamers want in a game, a vast amount of choices in which determine the outlook of your character. For example, like armor?; There's tons of different kinds, mostly which are the same thing just different colors and different stats. Though the combination of the many different kinds of armor will have you spending at least five minutes every hour or two customizing your golden hero, or in my case, dark knight. Again Lionhead studios entices your brain in two separate directions tearing at your insides about which you'd rather be, a hero saving the day from the forces of evil, or, well the forces of evil bringing darkness to the lives of the innocent, slaughtering legions of men, looting villages, and eating baby chicks. Muahahaha. Experience is the same as the last, massacre your enemies to gain experience needed to increase the power of your hits, the length of your health bar, how well you shoot a bow, sneak up upon an unexpecting villager, or how powerful your new spell divine fury can be. Yes there is an addition of two new wonderful spells, which in turn got me all giddy like a fanboy at a britney spears concert. The two new spells have a dark and light esque mood to the both of them, the first being divine fury; A huge magic circle appears around your character which in turn summons heavenly beams of light to incur the fury of the divine upon whatever unlucky enemy happens to be within a fifty foot radius of you, and Infernal wrath; I didnt actually use this one but is sounded cool, buy the game to experience it for yourself. Like the original you start out as a young boy performing good deeds so you can buy a gift for your pysch- I mean older sister, when a huge event happens and well I hate spoilers myself so pick up the game to find out the rest. Again as a boy you perform good deeds but where there are good deeds there are little hormonal boys that want to destroy every crate in oakvale and kick every chicken around until the guards eventually get a hold of you. Hehe. Not only does the armor and clothing define how your rugged warrior of darkness looks but what you do ingame also determines how attractive or scary you look. Perform good deeds and you'll have a halo above your head in no time and the crowds will all praise you. Perform bad deeds and that halo will cease to exist and in its stead will be two very unpleasant horns to distract the villagers eyes and insults from you. Again Lionhead did well on the choices that can be made in this game. Conclusion- Overall Fable the lost chapters is a great game worth buying whether, you've played the original or are buying this game for the first time. The game is not very difficult so those looking for challenge might consider the possibility of completing this game thoroughly collecting all the silver keys (quite a task) and maybe completing the story as both good and evil. Again those who HAVE played the original, Lion head has added a different ending, one of the main reasons I bought this title besides the fact that I traded in my xbox one and wanted to play this game. The bonus content is nice and while its not much it does make this version of fable better, and those you love your pc's this game looks really pretty. Presentation- 9/10 Graphics- 9/10 Sound- 10/10 Gameplay 10/10 Lasting Appeal 9/10 OVERALL--47/50 ]
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 Nice review, it seems to be a good game, and I like the genre. Keep up the reviews, and give Winterr some work.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 Thanks i tried to keep it short and sweet like my advance wars review, but this game just has so much in it.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 Don't worry. What you could do is put some more images in the review. I googled it, and the images look fine, so do it.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 a couple of gameplay shots would improve it a bit, so far you only have an FMV one, which can't give a balanced impression.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 Yeah well, just a notice: Fable 2 will be out this year. Keep your heads up!
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 thats another reason why i was playing this game. I cant wait for the new one.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 Wait, to clarify; are you comparing the PC version of 'The Lost Chapters' to the XBOX version of 'The Lost Chapters,' or are you comparing this PC title to the first Fable on the XBOX? If so, I'll vouch that the XBOX 'The Lost Chapters' is the same, though may be more graphically buggy/inferior to the PC version. It might also have more frame rate issues, as it tends to drop in towns or on random occasions. Nice review, though I personally wouldn't rate it as high. It's still a very good game, mind ya'll, but I found the combat to be repetitive, the music to be a tad repetitive, the story to be a tad disappointing, the voice acting to be annoying on almost all parts ("Try to get your combat multiplier even higher") and the number of spells included with 'The Lost Chapters' to be dismal - two copies of the same spell in light and dark flavors. I still play it from time to time, and some of the things are a nice diversion from typical RPGs, but, if you weigh it against what was promised by Sir Molyneux, the game is nothing like it was built up to be. Hopefully, the second game will fix all of this, and it's looking to be a vast improvement that will include a lot of the features that should have been implemented in the first, but were not due to time and various other constraints. If not, everyone will officially have the right to hunt Peter Molyneux down and assassinate-ify him.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 Well I played the xbox version of the lost chapters and dont really find anything serious that ruins the gameplay.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 I tried to be as unbiased as I could, and well some people are different when it comes to what video games they like. Overall this game is a good game, and yes it can get repetitive but thats true with pretty much all games. I cant tell you how tired i am of hearing "take no prisoners comrades" and then shooting the same whinny twelve year old in the face with a dragonuv. I was comparing the lost chapters with the original, and only making suggestions as to which copy of the lost chapters might be right for you, for example someone who is running on an old dell might not want to get a copy for the pc and instead buy it for the xbox and vice versa. Also I made sure to clarify that the pc version looked and ran better than the xbox version for those with the right computer. This is like the third review ive ever written for a video game so im completely open to constructive criticism.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 I would suggest you put a blank line between paragraphs, for example your gameplay section is very detailed, which is great, but its just a wall of text that needs blank lines to break it up. You could also insert screenshots into relevant parts of the text, which would help break it up as well.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 Thank you, though my review is not perfect, and nowhere near that of 9breaker's i do appreciate your complements.
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 EYE WIN. But not really. Anywho - thanks for the clarification. And, as the maniacal feline had stated previously, spacing out your review really helps, as walls of text with no breaks in them tend to freak the reader out and are deemed "tl:dr." Also, repeating the psychotic carnivore once more, putting the pictures between the text can also help to break up things. But the content and everything is very nice - you're on your way to achieving the fame, power, glory, money, booze and floozies that I have obtained! Keep it up!
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 Lol, My next review will be alot better. Anyway to sum this up my main problem was the huge wall of text and then the pictures, is there anything else i need working on before i can get the floozies?
Re: [Pc] Fable The Lost Chapters--Nouta90 Nope, Nouta - everything else was fine. Your wall of text is the only thing standing between you and your reward - 'Stardom and Whores.' Cookie for the EXACT reference, though there are more likely than not a lot of these floating around.
this game is really fun but my main complaint is the damn controls. AWSD is great and all but its not like WoW where if you press A or D, the camera always stays behind you, not static. they should've added in strafing like Q and E. i played WoW with as little mouse control as possible, but this game relies on the mouse way too much. i find myself holding down R to reset the camera, and right click to run. way too uncomfortable to keep those held down at all times.
no words can explain how much i love fable this is my favorite game of all time and have played it about ten times thru now , im extatic about fable 2 i nevr got a chance to play the pc version but i bought the lost chapter for the xbox, it was just phenominal, and justa tip for yas dont buy the xbox originals fable as its not the the lost chapters i fell for that one
Im kind of annoyed that fable 2 isent sporting any new graphical look, and im almost postive its not going to be an open world. Hopefuly i dont get F2 on launch and beat it that very day, like the last one. I really enjoyed the game but i felt ripped off beacuse the creator said "This game is going to change the industry"
