    Due to several factors

    -Laptop not idea for play

-Keyboard co-ordination is poor, thus NOT ideal for me even with a proper keyboard

    -Just cause :)

    I wish to use a gamepad-to be specific my 360 pad-with these 2 games.

Now I tried key to pad where it sets the keys to a game pad, but doing so means I loose out on a degree of control, so what I realy need is prehaps a patch to enable this.

So here is what I'm after.

-A direct link to a patch to one or both these games?

-A site that holds pc cracks and mods-I forgot the one where I got a resident evil no cd patch from :(

(I have ligit copy, just got sick of ramming in the cd each time...)

-Any advice realting to my request?

best option is keyboard and mouse. use wasd/arrow keys for forward/backward movement and strafing, and the mouse for turning and shooting. Mouse wheel for changing weapons, and button under your thumb (make sure you get a mouse that has one, I highly recommend the logitech mx518) for reloading.

I already tried that, my keyboard skills kinda suck since I'm more of a console player-and since these 2 aren't on ps2 I'm stuck :(

I kept hitting "q" and "e" and the surrounding buttons out of panick...

On the old doom and quake games I could do it but...too many buttons I need to use, switching weapons is a must here I can't stay on one gun...

    That and jumping :(

Loonylion is right mds, as i am a Q3arena player i know for sure that mouse and keys rulez on 1st person shooters on pc.

I was the same as you a few years ago, i started playing Q3 arena on Dreamcast,

and the weirdest setup, i had it configured for joypad movement, as i found keys too tough to use,

when i eventually moved on to pc, i had to adapt to keys, (boy that was tough),

it took a while, but when you do get the hang of it, it ownz,

i can appreciate what you are saying tho, as being a console player and use to joypad,

because i was the same as you as i said, but try to play as often as you can with mouse and keys

and it will become more natural to you.

    But think about this...

I wish NOT to do with my mother's keyboard...

[me=mds64]has busted her keyboard from playing older fps games[/me]

I'm heavy handed, plus the reasons above, and I'm not getting another keyboard for my laptop, or another mouse.

that is your choice, so my advise then, is forget about 1st person shooters

laptop keyboards are fine (I don't like them but im perfectly able to game on them) but you must have a proper mouse.

Mine is a bit awkward because I'm more used to sandard keyboards, I tried...I can't do doom 2 as well on this, though somewhat better than playing doom 3

I would for on pc...but these games I always wanted.

I lack an xbox and not planning on getting on, too dam big...and quake 4 is on 360 so...out of the question.

If there was ps2 versions I wouldn't have posted.

yeah, i know a few Q3arena players who you use laptops to play (with mouse of course)

as for me, i haven't tried the laptop for gaming.

I would imagine that the laptop keys may be too flat for my liking,

but would still prefer that, than to try playing with a joypad

Lapto for FPS is not that hard, because the usual standard controls are :
    - WASD for moving and strafe
    - Mouse to aim
    - Number key to change weapons
And the rest is easy to use, you should tri it mds :)

I finished those games with using laptop keyboard ;D

I already tried, I did better with key 2 joy than keyboard-and that app was not responsive...

Perhaps you're just not get used to it.
Just asking....you can't use the gamepad for these games ?

Sadly these games didn't have pad options-pressing a key in the game config wouldn't register key presses, only the keyboard would go.

Hmm.... seeing on google doesn't seem any luck.
Some people said they can play it with gamepad, but it's too trouble some for them.
In the end, most people back to Keyboard.

    Hrm...ok....

Bugger-2 cheap classics that I shan't play for the mean time...

Might as well do what I did last time.

    [me=mds64]unistalls them for future useage[/me]

Anyone know of any good pc mod sites-the one a mate shown me I sadly forgot-need more no cd patches for my games...sick of loading disc...

I've played both Doom3 and Quake 4 on a laptop using keyboard and a wireless mouse (I disabled the touchpad) works just fine for me.
