...Yeah I just used a system restore point, but I had to make a few phone calls to get that going...

Anyway, when i first got windows 7 installed on this originally vista enabled laptop, my mates tried to install "alchol 120%" and it BSOD'd, they fixed it and assumed it was the one they got (pirated-apparently they had a few friends with the same thing and thought it was the particular one they used).

But upon downloading and installing 52% (latest) it did it again, does my windows 7 not like alchol/cd emulation?

(Note-It's a pirated copy of 7, but my friend who used the same disc on his laptop hasn't had the same issue because he has 120% installed-I'm gonna try daemon tools but if it happens again I'll update this-also I got 52% from the official website so no chance of that being screwed)

EDIT:Daemon tools has the same effect :(

I'd say theres something wrong with the OS install, I've used virtual cd drives on win 7. Do make sure its the latest version of the program.

    Try elby clonedrive.

    I'll give that a go...

I said that to the people who did the OS install...I'll make them install it again (they said it had nothing to do with the OS install ::) )

..and with the program you suggestec, does it do dvd isos?

I got another suggestion (power iso) and it lacks dvd iso compatibility...thus I can;t use it to run dvd iso's :( (it comes up as cd drive, not dvd drive like alchol before it)

Also there's a bug on Windows 7 that makes it erase all restore points after you install a driver.

I don't install drivers often, lucky for me 2 recent restore points were ready to use.

I don't use restore points. Lots of wasted HD space.
