Hello! I just wondered if anyone had any overlooked gems to share! What I am asking about is obviously not mario games or zelda or pokemon or phoenix wright, but more the type of Time Hollow or Hotel Dusk if you know what I mean. The kind that is generally overlooked and overshadowed by the big blockbusters. Anyway, any suggestions would be very cool, and also describe why you think the suggestion is worth playing. PS: don't physically share the games, as in don't link to megaupload or something, just share the idea of the game. I can mention some of my "gems": The world ends with you Great story, great battle system, great visuals and great customization. Very hip culture references, and very japanese. Osu, Tatakae, Ouendan I and II The japanese counterpart to Elite Beat Agents, cooler if you're into anime and japanese culture, cool art, and funny as hell. Shin Megami Tensei - Devil Survivor Anime-style game again, very cool story, but battle can get repetitive. The battle system is strategic, so if you like Advance Wars, this is kind of alike, only a bit different. Suikoden Tierkreis 3D-game, which is rare for the DS, even though it has the strength of N64 or more. RPG, not outstanding in any way, but somehow all the mediocre pieces fit together to make an above average game. Description taken out of gamespot, but very accurate. Hope I'm not duplicating a thread or posting it in the wrong section. :S
I wouldn't really say The World Ends With You was overlooked, I know the game is insanely popular with anybody who has a DS. I don't care for it personally though. Anyways, my opinions on Overlooked DS games... Call of Duty DS Games. Why? Because when people see it they think "Oh look, a shitty handheld port of a good game. Lame". But they are actually pretty good. The gameplay is fun, the graphics are good, and they're some of the few DS games that feature full voice acting. I've had a lot of fun with them.
Yes, maybe you're right about TWEWY... I'm not very into gaming communities, so I just noticed that it didn't have a huge name on it, except for Square-Enix. I thought it was very good though. Interesting choice about the Call of Duty series. I'll check them out.
Picross DS and 3D Picross. Insane, and I mean INSANE playing value. I believe at least half of all the time I've ever played on my DS was spent with those two games. Feel the Magic XX XY, ZooKeeper, Kirby Squeak Squad, Skate It, Utacchi, Viewtiful Joe - Double Trouble and The Wizard of Oz Beyond the Yellow Brick Road (seriously!) are all fun. Mario & Luigi 3 and Dragon Quest 5 aren't as well remembered as they should be.
Mario & Luigi 3 was awesome, I really enjoyed that one. But yeah, didn't get a whole lot of Media attention from what I noticed.
Mario and Luigi 3 was bowser's inside story or partners in time? I liked partners in time, except that when you cleared the game, there wasn't much else to do. Bowser's inside story was fun, but I never cleared it, as I thought it was too easy. I might clear it sometime though.
Ivy the Kiwi? Clever and fun, rather short though. Plays similarly to Kirby: Canvas Curse in the way where you have to keep the kiwi moving by drawing lines for her to follow. Mech Assault: Phantom War It's actually pretty fun, though the sound was a bit funky to me and it's not the best looking thing around. Blowing up tanks, buildings, people and other mechs though.. Omnom Monster Racers Silly concept, but devilishly fun regardless. Taiko no Tatsuijin DS: Touch de Dokodon! Taiko Drum Master on the DS. This game has single-handedly beaten the crap out of my touch screen, along with Meccha! Taiko no Tatsujin DS: 7-tsu no Shima no Daibouken Rhythm/music genre. I had some more, but I cant remember off of the top of my head.
If you liked Devil Survivor, try Shin Megami Tensei - Strange Journey Luminous Arc I and II Rune Factory I and II Knights in the Nightmare Super Robot Taisen OG Saga - Endless Frontier (Not sure if these would be overlooked, but they're fun)
There's actually a third game in these series coming out for the DS the day after tomorrow, the 1st of July. It's called "Taiko no Tatsujin DS: Dororon! Yokai Daikessen!!"
Forgot about this one. Ivy The Kiwi is TONS OF FUN, takes almost no space and needs no japanese skills whatsoever! I actually like it better than Canvas Course.
