Can anyone give me a link where I can buy an original R4? And are R4 clones any better than original r4 or is original one better? Also does it come with micro sd reader? And what it's the best firmware to use with it, I've been reading this forums and it looks the best one is wood R4 but just want to make sure.
If you want a good flash cart, I'd go with the Acekard 2i. - http://shoptemp.com/products/Acekard-2i-Card-for-Nintendo-DS-DS-Lite-DSi-p-30.html Setup - http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=38335.msg695431#msg695431 But if you're content on an R4, then here you go... - http://shoptemp.com/products/R4-DS-Revolution-Card-for-Nintendo-DS-DS-Lite-p-29.html Firmware - http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=39701 I would personally never buy anything with R4 in its name or M3 or TTDS. It doesn't come with a MicroSD Card Reader. You'll have to buy one. They're pretty cheap though on ShopTemp. - http://shoptemp.com/products/USB-High-Speed-MicroSD-SDHC-Card-Reader-p-84.html
Well I heard R4 is cheaper and with wood r4 it has good compatibility, and i just want it to play games. So how good is acecard2i compatibility compared to R4? I have original DS btw and not really planning getting a sd card bigger than 2gb.
With the R4, it's just the firmware. The Acekard 2i is less susceptible to corruption of the MicroSD Card unlike the R4 which is common for it. I never have had a corrupted card the entire time I've had my AK2i. With my old R4, it would corrupt my card like once a month or so...
My card has NEVER corrupted on my R4 ever. It was probably due to the crappy firmware. Wood R4 is pretty much perfection. My SanDisk 2gb MicroSD has never corrupted, on the original (1.18, only used for about a week), YSMenu, or Wood R4. I find that to be false in pretty much every way. Your experience with the R4 doesn't match any experience I've ever heard of with it. Find one thread in the past 6 months where MicroSD corruption was indisputably due to the ORIGINAL R4. You'll have a pretty hard time, as one doesn't appear to exist.
I agree. The only time I got a corrupted card was when I was using a GBC emulator and the emulator tried to create a save file when there was no room (my fault and the emulator's fault). If you want a cheap but reasonable card, get the original R4 (from the link ace1o1 gave because they're reliable). But if you're willing to spend a bit more, then definitely get the Acekard2i.
It was the old firmware for the R4 III, but either way, it was based on the original R4. Which was good until people started cracking it.
I know. But I didn't know the difference back then like a lot of new people. I gave it to a friend to have that cursed object. [me=ace1o1]dies at the thought of even owning an R4[/me] My poor friend...
Nearly all clone firmwares are based off the R4 original firmware. That is no way to judge the original, as it only takes one bad tweak and the firmware is garbage. Plus, that is a clone, you get what you pay for.
Is this an original R4 that's not fake or a clone? http://shoptemp.com/products/R4-DS-Revolution-Card-for-Nintendo-DS-DS-Lite-p-29.html
Oh. It's a clone. But it's the closest thing to the Original R4 that you can get. I wouldn't buy it personally.
That is the original. If it is a boxed original, it will come with a MicroSD reader. It is a great cheap flash cart if you don't have much to spend and works pretty much perfectly. Just remember, it does not support a MicroSD over 2gb, and does not support SDHC. A 2gb MicroSD is only about $8 + S&H new though, so the whole set is pretty cheap. Do you even know what an original R4 looks like? :/
It's a clone. And of questionable origin. The original R4's production was stopped 2 years ago after the lawsuit with the original R4 team... http://en.r4-revolution.com/r4_team_stopped_production_cartidges http://www.r4ds-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=1182&start=190 http://kotaku.com/5030319/nintendo-and-54-companies-battle-evil-r4-in-court
There are tons of warehouse surplus leftover. I got mine back in October and it is perfect. There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of unopened R4 originals in existence. It isn't too difficult to get one leftover from a few years ago. It is far easier then people think.
I don't know... People say that, but I still don't believe it. Did you check the link to the R4 forums?
I don't really know. If these originals are supposedly being made after the fact, then the production is literally flawless since they can run Wood R4 with zero issues. People would think the stocks dried up, but the R4 obviously started to lose a lot of popularity when other flash carts that could hold more memory and got more recent updates started getting released. It is still perfectly possible that there are tons of leftovers from earlier productions to the final production.
It may be possible, but I still doubt there are that many out there still of the original last batch...
When I bought my original, the person was selling several hundred. This was on iOffer, so I may have gotten lucky in the fact that I got an actual original. All I know is that it works perfectly and I got it long after the final production date.
