I downloaded WinRAR and pokemon emerald, but when it won't let me play. It says something about the files not being able to be extracted cuz they're crrupt or damaged or something. I deleted both and tried again, but with the same results. What should I do?

In my experience it was a malfunction rom that I downloaded and I downloaded it again and it worked, but you say it didn't have any effect :S weird
    Good luck finding out.

Try again now that the site-wide issues we were experiencing seem to be resolved

When you download a file, it puts the file in your cache. Therefore, when you try to download again, you get the same file that failed in the first place. Try closing your browser and then come back and try your download again. That should work because you're getting a "fresh" file, not the cached one. Good luck!

I tried it, but it didn't work. I followed the instructions and did the whole "extract here" thing, but it still says that it is in an unknown format or is damaged. Do you need an emulator to play the game?

I just tried downloading it and extracting it and it worked fine. So the file on the server is not corrupt.

Since you've tried redownloading it, it would suggest that your version of winrar is outdated and does not support the latest changes in the encryption algorithm they use. I suggest you update winrar and try to extract it.

This happened to me several times. Thats right, you gotta keep re-downloading it, and if that doesnt work, you'll have to try different sites to get different Pokemon Emerald roms.

Still, when they start to work for you, those games are classic, (well kind of) but really fun! Theres so many different ways you can change your Pokemon teams and what not! Not to mention other popular GBA games

Then why didn't you tell us? Won't it extract?

If the game is "corrupt" and not the archive then it's probably a configuration issue.

no, the archive extracts very well, the file itself is corrupt. when i start playing it with the most recent version of vba, there's only a white screen, but then, with other roms from other sites, it will work.
