CTRL-ALT-DELETE, open up task manager, go to processes tab, and see what's eating all of your RAM (look for the largest percent of CPU usage.)

Most likely some virus, or some anti-virus (Norton is a notable CPU-hog.)

system idle process...it's using 95-99%... it say exactly as follows..

System idle Process | SYSTEM | (percentage goes here) | Percentage of time the processor is idle

    i doubt it's a virus...and i'm using ESET..CPU usage jumps between 0-100% o_O and memory says 1.98 -_-
something is wrong if ALL me RAM is used up! =O

To add to what Personuser said. Look for processes that might be a rogue .exe file. Open file location and see where it's at. I used to have to get rid of a lot of those .dll files, due to them being infected.
I made good money cleaning people computers when they couldn't even get them to boot anymore, due to them being virus infected.

One other thing, how many GB's does your C drive have left?

362 GB's left on me C: drive...but i've had it down to 80 before >.> will look for rogue EXE's now...keep replying with thoughts please!

EDIT:the WBEM folder in SYSTEM32 is acting pretty rogue like >.> so is the bonjour service which i don't remember installing >.>

i'm afraid to delete anything >.> SYSTEM32 might crash me. and bonjour service's description is as follows..

    mDNSresponder.EXE

    for WBEM in SYSTEM32..

    unsecapp.exe | SYSTEM | 00 | Sink to receive asynchronus callbacks...

the later one is a exact description...dots and all =O

I sometimes get all my ram used up, if I reboot its fine. Its usually rocketdock or something.
Goes without saying do antivirus and anti malware if its still not cured I aint got a clue.

Best thing to do is reboot.

Try using CCleaner as well and defrag the HDD.

i've got ESET, malwarebytes, and AD aware scanning as we speak...though i don't see how anything would live through a full format o_O and i only installed stuff straight from disks that i had already scanned everything on...

i've always hear that bad things can happen when defragmenting an HDD... and wouldn't formatting like, auto-defrag it?

A trick to use is if you think a process is rogue, then type it in google and see what it says. It usually tells you whether you're on the money or not.

Man do as Ace told, there ain't no bad thing in defragmentation, the oposite, it will be the best.
To be more clean in what it does:
When you click to run something, it searches all over the HD for the files needed in order to run propery that program, so when you do lotsa shit, whit times, the HD get disorganized, so the searching take more time.
The defrag just reorganize ad let the files straight, so when it go search for files when you execute the command, it will be faster.
But there's a chance that your memory being screwed.
Have alook at my friend's tutorial, just throw the URL in google translator:

defragmentation can go wrong, but its rare these days. most likely culprit is firefox, terminate it and restart.

found that same exact thing elsewhere yesterday morning, left it run ALL NIGHT, nothing wrong with the memory >.>

    just rebooted, still lagging >.>

EDIT2: still got the caps issue, typing with right shift, this really hurts T_T my computer wouldn't shut down right, it stayed on shutting down for 10min...i manually shut down, and rebooted to post this...what does it sound like me issue is?!?!

don't put "EDIT" when you edit something. we won't care. anyway try booting into safe mode and see if it is still slow

okay well.... when i booted into safe mode to do something i was told to do, it ran perfectly...

run a virus scan in safe mode to make sure if it's your anti-virus or a virus in you PC

I got the EXACT same problem on my older computer...

RAM all eaten, processor flying up...until it didn't boot anymore (didn't turn on).

Make sure all your parts of the computer are intact...else replace them.

i did that. i ran a scan in safe mode using multiple things, still nothing, and eset never gave me any troubles before..especially since im still holding right shift to talk normal T_T

impossible, everything's soldered in T_T damn Toshiba...
