In the options you can choose to set up to 4 controllers for each character so up to 4 people could play. Did they incorporate this and just use the network to link to others or did they remove it completely?
I wasnt aware that they even had MP, certainly not the originals of 4-6. 9 hasnt that I've noticed either.
Correction, up to 2 players, not 4. Here is what it looks like in FF9 on ps1/ps2: While in the menu, nagivate: Config/Battle Control/Custom then press X on Custom. Then you can set who controls which characters (p1 or p2). Similarly the same for the older FF's mentioned earlier. FF6:
Do you have a ps3 and/or do you have those games on your psp? Is it physically there in the menu? And what happens when you play it on your ps3?
Actually I would have expected the PSN game to be a straight rip from the PSX versions, just repackaged.
for PS2 it would just say there isnt a second controller connected and not allow you to enable the MP mode?
I've been doing some reading around for a looooooooooong time. This answer was so hard to find. So I downloaded the ff9 eboot to see if the option was still there. It is and it is not greyed out. One article says that wlan or adhoc was applied to some of the old ps1 titles allowing wireless 2p. But it did not list if it applied to final fantasy games. But I saw that these can be played easily with 2 players if one has a ps3. Edit: Looks like vibration is greyed out. I dont have a ps3 yet so I dont know if their controllers vibrate or not for this to work...
