old emulator plays the game but the new one doesn't? help!

ok so I was playing gundam battle assault 2 on epsxe160 for awhile and beat the whole game, even unlocked everyone (hard!!)

and I just got epsxe170 and it plays all the games perfectly, some even better (like metal gear solid)

BUT on epsxe170 it crashes after the first battle (said something about something not being able to be read), I even tested it on epsxe160 and the rom still works perfectly on there

WHAT THE %&@# IS THE PROBLEM!?!?!?!?

 

Well, I posted this in your first topic too:

Some versions of ePSXe are more compatible with some games than others.

v1.5.2 tends to play Square Enix games well.
v1.6.0 fixes issues with some other games, and causes problems with others (like Square Enix games).
v1.7.0 fixes issues with some more games, and causes problems with a few others.

The thing with PSX emulation is that it's not perfect, and while for the most part one set up will work for a lot of games, there are games out there that just won't, and have to use other versions, sometimes earlier versions.

 

I understand that it's far from perfect yet lol

thanks tho, I didn't think that the newer version would cause probs
