Hi Everyone, nice to "meet" you all ;D

Have been doing quite a bit of reading on this forum and I just want to check that I've got the right idea.

I have ordered this r4 card with micro sd http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Memory-Adapter-suitable-Nintendo/dp/B001O5MJPO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1233006607&sr=8-1

I have downloaded loads of games from here, which I will extract using winrar and put the .nds files onto the micro sd card. I will then get the firmware I need for that card from http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ once I know what the card type is so I can select the correct firmware. I then put the micro sd card back into the r4 adaptor.

Is that it? Once I've done this the games will play on the DS or am I totally naive and missing something? ???

Thanks in advance everyone x ;)

That sounds about right. However, ordering an r4 was a bad idea.... I've got one and we're up the creek without a paddle with it. It'll work for a while, but it woln't be long before it's totally outdated.

You'll love it, though. ^.^ It sounds about right. Get to it, man!

Oh dear, I thought I was doing the right thing! :( Its possible i could cancel it as only placed the order on Amazon earlier. Is there something better I should have bought?

Thanks anand. Seems i can't cancel my amazon order :( so i'll go with the r4 card for now and maybe buy something better once I've digested this whole forum and know what I'm doing.

Thanks again for all your help. I looking forward to getting to know you all better (well hopefully not in technical support but you know what I mean) ;)

Why people keeps saying that buying an R4 is a bad idea?

I understand that R4 is basically out business and the firmware is probably stuck at 1.18 but all the current game roms play just fine.

If it's about homebrew programs and games than I understand but in the mean while it works perfectly and it's cheap.

Because many clones and fakes exist, it was good in it's time when Second generation flashcarts started, but there are many better choices. The R4 also has very good homebrew compatibility.

Just a quickie to say thanks again. The card arrived and there's no problems with it, its also a genuine version 2 which is a great relief. I have now downloaded all the games and software and with the exception of one game not being able to find the save file, its working a treat!

    Thanks for your help. xxx
