    Say hello to Ta093.

Sony used less hardware in this mobo, so maybe there is a vulnerability where we can hack the shnitz outta it.
The PSP mobo is overall more compact, and changes the design of the PSP slightly.
We haz no idea on if this reopens the opportunity to Pandora it.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-
does that mean any psp 3000 purchased this month has the new mobo?

    That means maybe.
Buy a PSP-1000 off ebay or a used/refurbished one at Gamestop.

Not likely. The stores are probably still loaded with the older 3000 models.

We will have to wait, but good chance that it has built in software to combat pandora tools...

It could also mean the current method of hacking a 3000 is again blocked (especially if it has the most recent firmware installed like most do) but this is uncertain...time shall tell...

But why can't they just start more progress on the next gen psp than making another re-design, I thought they had enough hardware revisions when they got to the GO! and 3000.

Sony was cheapass this time and made their PSP mobo lighter. They are just saving money I guess.

That's likely what it is. Manufacturing is constantly looking to cut costs of production, to cut the cost of the end product.

It's wrong to think that just because there are people in Sony working on cutting production costs of their existing PSP and PS3 systems, that somehow that means that no one at Sony is looking at the next generation. Honestly, there are more than one or two people working for Sony :)

I know, it sucks... But hey, the Playstation Move controller is being released this year. Closest thing to next gen, eh?
    OMFG RLY

I was commenting on Hypnos, who said they were wasting time by lowering the cost of the PSP rather than continue development on the next generation and new things. I said thinking like that is WRONG. They can do both at the same time, they have enough developers and employees.

It is wrong though, the GO! is their version of 'next gen'.

    To compare Nintendo to Sony,
Nintendo was pretty stupid to release the DSi, and the DSi XL, BUT at least they are thinking about the new 3DS.

How does that make me wrong? It proves that they can still develop "new" consoles and reduce production costs on "old" consoles at the same time. That proves my point.

No, I'm not proving you wrong, I guess you misunderstood... I was joking when I said "O RLY".
    Sorry, Filipino mistake...

I figured there was some misunderstanding going on.

    Back on topic.
I have pretty much given up on the PSP scene as far as the new PSPs go. I'm glad I have the PSP 1000 and a completely hackable 2000 model.
This 3000 update doesn't really affect me at all.

So what it means is that they are re-releasing PSP 3000s with new, not yet hackable motherboards? Or am I just bumping a very old thread?

The old 3000 motherboards weren't hackable. This is just info saying that the people looking for hacks have discovered that the motherboard has changed yet again. It's doubtful that this new motherboard is any more hackable than the previous ones, and it's yet to be seen if it's even harder to hack.
