    help!
i have tried dl like 6 different ROM's of ogre battle 64, and even though the game looks right, none of the ROM's have the whole game. :(

    for example:

    1. i only get my own unit in the game ...the game doesn't give me any other units to control, like dios, or any other toons, and i have tried mixing up my answers to the old mans questions in the beginning, but nothing changes.

    and

    2. i cannot use any items that i find in the game (swords, helmets etc.) on the one, and only unit i can control....there is no option to equip different stuff, plus there is no training screen.

why, and how can the game LOOK perfect, but somehow be missing key features?

I'm using project 1.6, AND 1.7...same issues no matter which one i use.

I'm using a laptop with windows 7 if that somehow matters...I'm no braniac with computers.

do i just need the emulator, and the ROM to make this work?...or do i need some other programs or what?

    thanks!!

I just tested it on Project 64 1.6 and it worked fine. It didn't freeze and I could remove equipment. Did you set up the controls correctly? What roms have you been using? it should be near 42Mb

hey thanks for getting back to me
yea the different versions i have tried have been between like 35mbs-44mbs or so, and they all come out with the same issues.

the option menus in the game dont have many options.

why would the other units (dios, and all the rest) besides mine simply be awol tho?

yea i am using a laptop, but this isnt crysis 3 im tryin to play
im far from a computer expert but its hard to believe that a n64 emulation (with a file size of 45mbs or so) really takes more to run than an average laptop can handle.
in fact thats the reason im trying so hard to play this.
i just assumed that because its such a small file and a really old game that this might be the only way i COULD play a cool game on my laptop with out frying it.

actually emulation is very CPU heavy, and particularly N64 onwards. The filesize really doesn't mean anything at all.

I tested the game on Wineskin on my MacBook so it doesn't take too much CPU to run it. I also use it to play my PSX emulator and it uses about the same CPU as watching a movie on my laptop. Dolphin (Gamecube/wii emu) uses a lot of cpu as well as PS2 emu. I use my Bootcamp pc side for PS2 and NDS games since the Mac alternatives suck.

That being said, the game itself is set up so each class has it's own default equipment. You can't remove all clothes from a character and the main character. When you change a class so do the clothes. It's how the game was made. The emulator was crappier then I remember it but it still worked.

I would consider playing Tactics Ogre - Let Us Cling Together for PSX instead of Ogre Battle 64. They are very similar in gameplay, but the ps game is more developed with multiple paths/endings.

If you like tactical games I'll recommend some Gameboy Advance (Visual boy emu) games that work on any computer. I'm sure you might have played these before.
Tactics Ogre - The Knight of Lodis (Similar to the game you are trying to play but better graphics and diversity)
Shining Force - Resurrection of the Dark Dragon
    Fire Emblem
    FF tactics.

Saiyuki - Journey West for the PSX is pretty good alternative if you've never played it.
