recently i've stumbled upon some problems on my wii, i will try to make a clear list of what is happening:

    1) The wii will some times refuse to acept DVD's at all: if it's on vertical position it will try to swallow the disc only to stop after 1/4 of the DVD has gone in and it's expelled, happens way more often with DVD DL.

    2) The wii will not display the image of the game or read the game at all: I had troubles to make the wii play TCON2 and RS2 and it's now refusing to read my RE4 game, wereas it does accepts my umbrella chronices game that is in much worse state.

    3) MIOS/CMIOS was not foudn when i used the latest version of pimp my wii, odd thing is that i had installed previously the CMIOS v8.

    4) What is trucha bug and what CIOS are able to use it.

It was my understanding that the Wii doesn't and can't read DVDs.

when i refer to DVD's i am talking about burned DVD's with an iso for the wii, and now pimp my wii updated my wii to 4.3 and the homebrew channel is upside down, in other words i need the latest bannerbomb, any idea were to download it?

Depending on the model of your Wii, the disc drive can't read burned DVD's either. It all comes down to ISO loading.

For any other issues, as I know little of the Wii scene other than that ModMii is now the king of easy hacking and maintenance of said hack. If you continue to have issues, I would suggest rehacking via ModMii and see if some problems are solved. Also, I would highly suggest switching to ISO back up loading via a large, properly formatted external hard drive.

not that it was pimp my wii? i'll test it anyway, and the wii is chiped for it reading said burned DVD's i've been doing it for years man, plus my wii is a first gen one.

It is possible that your DVD drive could be failing on you if it's refusing to take discs and is having reading issues. It's all the more reason to switch to back up loading via an external drive. Yes, essentially, the chip will become useless. If I'm not mistaken though, no hacks in the past two or three years have required the use of a modchip to run back-ups on a capable drive. Of that though, I am potentially wrong. The Wii scene is not my forte.

i see, well i've been planning to change to external for a while, i am gonna buy a 2 Terabyte EHDD for the wii, it should be more than in off to hold all my games.

From my understanding, you somehow updated to 4.3.

My question to you is what was your reason for updating?

As I always say, never update unless you have to.

the custom app pimp my wii updated my wii to 4.3 and now it downgraded it to 4.1U still has the same issues, and i never wanted to update

But what were you doing with the pimp my wii app?

4.3 really screws with the homebrew channel and some warnings suggest that it can also brick the Wii if upgraded from a hacked setup.
If you haven't rehacked it by now, you'll probably have to use the SmashStack exploit to get homebrew channel back up.

asked it to auto update every CIOS on the wii it seems it chose the 4.3 first tiem then it hcose to downgrade the wii menu to 4.1

Well, then the obvious solution is to just not use Pimp My Wii.

Now I'm gonna ask, why do you need to update the CIOS?
Eventually we'll get down to the point that you didn't need to update, and that this issue and all update-related issues can be avoided by simply not having the need to update.

i needed to update CIOS to play TCON 2 and RS2 since i was getting an update screen and i was using an old rev of Cios222 and CIOS249/250 i always try to avoid updating anything unless it's a nescesity, plus i had this issues before i updated the wii, they nly one that was apparent was the problem with the CMIOS, and i am unable to isntall earlier revs due to the app not working, any one has the wad files for rev 8 + wii backup launcher?

I just download the necessary .wad files for the CIOSes and IOSes. Are you talking about Neogamma R8? Installing an older revision will just overwrite whatever you have.

Did you try the neat trick of ejecting the disc just as the backup loader begins to load the disc? (obviously put it back in once the Wii complains that it doesn't have a disc) I had to do that for Ghostbusters.

Done that, the way my games tend to work is only if insert MH3 then after it says it has MH3 on the disc channel i eject it and insert a wii game like RS2 then it reads, but it wont work with DL disc ORIGINAL DL games like metroid prime triology or brawl, as the wii swallows them halfway then it spits them, so to speak.

The Wii has issues reading original DL discs in general...

I know plenty of people that have more than one Brawl copy because their Wii has issues reading it. It's not necessarily a hacked Wii problem.

    is it chipped?

    Wiis don't walk, period.
And chipped wii are way easier to manage, with no problems with cIOS. However, if you read the thread, the posters Wii isn't chipped.

You'll have to use Smash Stack or Indiana Pwns to reinstall HBC, then try to follow this guide on the Upside down HBC if it still exists: https://sites.google.com/site/completesg/other-stuff/fix-hbc

I'm not sure how to get your discs working, since my Wii is on 4.2.

Also, it seems that your DL issue was occurring before upgrading, therefore, it is not the update that caused the issue.

Like I said before, some Wiis have issues reading DL discs. And since yours is the older Wii type, it is more likely to have this issue.

I never said it was not chipped, it is chipped BTW, but i am not sure what is the chip model.

@insanecrazy07 it happened the first time when i went from 3.3 to 4.1 i had the wii re chipped then it worked again (this was an original copy and the guys cleaned the lens) hence why i've been thinkin git's time to switch the lens and chip again, but im more worried about my CMIOS problems since i fixed the hombrew channel
