today i just clean and tidy up my figure display cupboard, however i found some of my anime figure is covered in some sticky, water proof, seems orange in color stuff. does anyone have any idea what happening to my figure? edit: here is some image see that shiny stuff on the head and the orange stuff on the shoulder? see that stuff collected in the hat?
Probably mold, or the lead in the paints used in the figure finally oozing out. Could you post a screenshot Cal?
ahhh... i'll try to take some photo when i get back later, because those stuff make the figure sticky they are like fingerprint and dirt magnet >.> Post Merge: [time]1310973692[/time] updated with some picture... hope it helps.
I'm pretty sure the one inside the hat is mold developing. The part where it's turning orange is due to the plastic's interaction with the surrounding air/atmosphere. What's happening is your figure/s is/are being oxidized similar to what happens to a piece of paper that turns brown over time. The shiny gooey stuff is also a result of oxidation & heat, in essence your figure/s are starting to melt. You can clean up your figures with some warm water & soap to remove the sticky residue & mold. As for the oxidation, you really can't do anuthing to "fix" it, but you can prevent it from getting worse by storing your figures inside vacuum sealed packets, preferable in a cool storage cabinet & keeping them away from direct sunlight.
No when they are based off a TV series or video game they are action figures. The point of having them is to collect them. If you don't see the fun in that that's fine....I had tons of them.
Turns out actions figures and dolls are the same, action figures are just called that to sound manly so little boys dont get bullied
