Is this vid card a good choice?
It's in my new computer, a Compaq SR5325NL PC

it is a midrange card, not intended for heavy gaming. For occasional to moderate gaming, it will be fine, however.

I'm not a hardcore player, I play Battlefield 2142 sometimes, atleast i'm gonna play it sometimes, because it didn't run on my old computer

on games it will give medium. i have this card by evga. if you can get this card for 70 or less then it's worth it, other wise just ditch.

if you want a little better, you could get a 9600gt for about 100 or an 8800gt for 110 or less.

there was one time a gigabyte 8800gt 256mb for $80.

256MB is pretty crap for an 8 series.

Yeah, I tought the 8800gt was THE BEST FREAKIN' GAMING CARD, it could run Crysis on high and still hit a minimum of 70fps?

There are definitely better cards out there than the 8800GT, it wasn't even the best when it was released. Everyone always liked it because it had a very good price for the performance, but now it's nowhere near the best card as it's a whole generation behind. Also I would doubt that it could reach 70 fps on high in Crysis unless maybe it was 2 cards in SLI.

I have two 8800GTX's in SLI; I think that's better than the Ultra.

the ultra is the best single card.

Oh shit, I looked again on the specs of my pc and now I see it has a Geforce 8500GT ::)
I did some research, but I see different specs, some say 265mb, but the box of my pc says 512mb... wtf is going on!?

your PC comes with onboard intel graphics, so the geforce is an add-in card. Graphics cards are often sold with different amounts of video ram, so you obviously have a 512MB version of that card.

I have an 8600GT and i have had no problems with it at all. In fact, I can play the latest games without any graphical problems at all. Like Mass Effect. That works perfectly with my 8600GT on maximum detail. Haven't tried Crysis yet on it however even though I have the game.

Tell me if Crysis runs well ;)

it should work on minimum, might struggle with medium.

Crysis should even run on medium depending on your other PC specs too. I doubt it would run it in full detail however. But like I said, I haven't had any problems at all with anything so far, even Gears of War works fine. My friend runs Crysis on medium with a 7900GT.

Not even an 8800 Ultra can get 70 FPS... i doubt to in SLI could either... The new 280 could though... but 2 4850's are way cheaper and are even a tad bit better.... or maybe they were 4870's... i forget... but 8600GT will do fine with BF2142
