The law states that any form of nudity in public is a crime. However the term nudity refers to un-clothed part of the body, therefore the law is saying any wo/man who is walking around in some swimwear is breaking the law. Yet they will prosecute you only if you're fully nude. They will even prosecute you if they see you nude through a window in you're own house, or you're backgarden.
Nudity huh? Well it depends where you are nude I guess, and to what extent. Things such as swimwear are acceptable, it's not like their genitals are on display. And how would someone know if your nude on your property unless they were tresspasing? Invasion of privacy is a crime also.
As long as the person isn't ugly and/or fat and isn't of my gender, public nudity is fine with me. Anyone want to disagree with my politically-incorrect double-standard?
The human body is not a bad thing. Nudity should not be illegal unless it causes a health risk. Also, it wouldn't be a sexual problem if the body weren't so 'taboo' in society. The actual laws are assumed; not written.
Nudity actually means "The state of being without clothing or covering of any kind". Therefore wearing something does not constitute nudity, hence terms such as "half-naked". But technicalities aside, obviously it is against public interest to be nude in public. Therefore of course no one should have to see you naked as most people would not want to anyway. On the other hand there is nothing wrong with being nude at home, but if someone can see you through your window and your backyard then it is wrong as again it is against public interest. The possibility of seeing the person nude is what is important in this matter and if such possibility exists then it is illegal. You can't force a nude body upon a person who does not want to see it. So basically I agree with the policy.
Because it is not in the interest of the public to see you naked. Something that is against public interest is anything that impacts the community in a negative way. Public nudity is considered vulgar and offensive and is thus not in the public's interest to have too see a person naked. Another way to put it is that it's against the legal convictions of the community, which stems from the law of delict relating to such matters.
Basically, if no one is bothered with you being nude, then do whatever you want. But if there is, you're going to have to face "the consequences", which will vary depending on the people offended. Considering the health risks involved with being nude all the time, however, I'd rather keep my clothes on in public.
Okay first of all. "The law"? There's no such thing as "The" law, there's "A" law, and often it doesn't apply to other people here because laws are per country, and in some places even per state/region. Second of all, generally nudity laws are concerned with public places, not your own backyard. This is just full of fail and assumptions.
My point is, there are going to be consequences if you're nude in a public place, either placed by the people who feel offended or disturbed by your nudity, or in some cases law enforcement. There's nothing wrong with being nude per se, as long as no one is bothered. Example, if you were nude and you weren't allowed in a restaurant, that's a consequence.
This is conditional to the society though. Nudity is only seen as vulgar after being brainwashed that it is by our cultures.
I don't disagree with you on that point, this is very true. Most societies have been conditioned so. But looking at it the issue as a whole and in a general perspective, it is a taboo. In this day and age however, almost everywhere it is considered inappropriate, aside from less civilised places.
No, it would smell bad outside if some people were nude plus there are some really grotesque people out there. Another point is that pedophiles may be outside...
Even in 'civilized' scenarios, the shame of nudity is incidental and most probably a product of religion. "Your body is bad, sex it bad" etc There many countries in Europe that are incredibly open about sexuality and nudity.
You are talking about Nudist beaches. And people are shy about their bodies. Clothes are also cleaner and better protection, save nudity for special places where people can be nude
Look at it this way, if you are cold it would make sense to wear something that will keep your body warm no? Also clothes protect from debris and other harmful particles. Some people as cj said, are insecure about their bodies, and so want to shield it from the eyes of others. I don't care whether we humans wear clothes or not, given an ideal situation.
No, I'm not just talking about nude beaches. How are clothes cleaner? Yes, clothes protect from the cold. But we have to wear hem in the summer too?
