ok, i know some of the flashcarts dont work right now, but i was wondering if there could be a type of exploit using the old download play system through it to be able to write something to be able to change the system some how

im really sorry i did not know where this might go but from the debate me & a friend had about it, you might be able to right something with a flashcart to exploit a hole in the 3DS so there might be a hole there ^_^

edit: ok well, it might be possible to do, but more than likely it will be very hard to pull it off

It is possible, but as you said, reasonably hard.
I feel that the 3DS has a lot more improved security than the DSi and DS, as well as the Wii in which exploits were used.

But, maybe something like that may appear in the future. We shall see.

well, i was saying the same thing since the download play system is made into the 3ds with the ds in mind and its true you can play stuff from roms off of flash carts of other systems too, since me & my friend play mario party and other stuff from his cart

edit ok, we found something strange, my friend used one of those distro roms, like gamestop and such used to get and found if you mess with the coding of the rom, you can actually push out stuff to the 3ds to download it, its not very stable and testing with a dsiware didnt help either but my 3ds was able to receive it but unable to run it >__>

so if anyone wants to hunt this further, maybe my friend has stumbled onto something?? who knows, i do not know what he did to the rom but he has been non stop on this and well, hoping he might have found our little backdoor into pumping stuff into the DSi/3DS

    ^ Wow.
I would like to see a video or picture of that in action.

I suggest though you bring this to the attention of GBAtemp. They are the ones with the good hacking knowledge.

    No problem.
If you do make a GBAtemp topic, please link me to it.

I must thank your friend. It is nice to know that there is a possible exploit on the 3DS.

No problem. A lot of people have slow Internet.
Looking forward to seeing it in action. Also looking forward to the GBAtemp hackers trying to do something with the exploit.

also found out a weird but proven glitch that can be tested out, here is how to cause it:

    first, you need these items:

1.) Pokemon Black/White cards(US cards tested)(idk if flash carts will work for this)
2.) 3DS (US region) (latest firmware (unknown on others)
3.) WiFi Connection that is set to WPA2 security

first, make sure you have your connection set in the 3DS as the WPA2 connection, then boot up your pokemon game, doesnt matter which one you choose, when going into the game, make sure you cannot connect to any of the wifi stuff, then save the game and exit back out.
next go into the wifi setup and change your connection to no security and setup the DS wifi setup with the same name on the connection, then save the stuff then go into the pokemon game again, this time verify you should be able to get online with this setup, now save the game.
lastly change your wifi back to the WPA2, do not erase or modify the settings in the wifi menu for either one, then when you go back into the game, you should be able to connect to the wifi connection even though the pokemon black/white games shouldnt be able to support the WPA2 connection, but you still have the connection to get into it

so, this might work with any DS game that requires wifi, unsure, if anyone wants to reproduce this with any other game, please leave a comment on it :)

Pokemon Black/White do support WPA2 technically, it's a DSi enhanced thing.

um.. ok?? idk that, but when i tried to connect with just the wpa2 it wouldnt connect so i drop my wpa2 security and connected just fine, then i changed it back when i was done and noticed i still could connect to it
