not allowed to download, copyright protected game warning

    ??? never saw this before, i clicked on a ds game, sims2 apartment pets? and then clicked download and it told me i'm not allowed to due to copyrights.

    why? did we get slapped on the hand by ea?

    Exactly as the message says, it's copyrighted, and if we want to keep running we had to remove access to it.
    That's the cost of running a site with illegal content, sometimes you have to remove content.

    wasn't being mean. just wondering because so many others are copyrighted.

    :) there is always other ways if needed. maybe take them off the list?

    technically they're ALL copyrighted. Seph is only removing the ones that get complaints though.

    nah, not going to take them off, some has comments/images etc. And it's not entirely unlikely that we just remove the link to the server and keep the rapidshare/megaupload links, need to look into that first though.

    Is it a real threat to the site? can't they just make a federal report? i know they can't force you to turn over ip information. but maybe my mindset is too american, i don't know foriegn laws.

    Edit: i downloaded them from one of the sites you have linked on RomU.

    They wouldn't bother so long as we remove the content, it's not cheap to make a lawsuit, and they wouldn't really gain anything from it.

    NDS ROM: 2699 - Sonic Chronicles The Dark Brotherhood - Europe

    is now copyright protected...

    i don't know why these people want to protect there money but there being greedy sob's!! you might as well remove the esa proteced roms as well...

    i thought all commercially released games were under some form of copyright, i definitely thought all games released in the US were.

    :D but yes, lawsuit, take our server and the 5-10$ left over after having paid hosting. then the rest of the fines are debt and inprisonment.

    cost the government money to hold you, and cost the company money to get that 5-10$ ;D


    if anyone needs, check the rom links bottom right of RomU's page, they still host stuff and they can get in trouble, not our problem, right?

    You don't want us to, that would be all of them.

    Correct, all intelectual property automatically becomes copyrighted upon being comitted to tangible media.

    Correct. If one of our affils gets targeted, that's nothing to do with us.
