this has nothing to do with them losing. This is the EU deciding that bundling IE with windows is anti-competitive and banning them from doing it.

Haha, microsoft can't be happy then, it isn't really hard to download IE anyway, i just want to know who actually will download it compared to the other browsers out there.

People that have thought that IE is the only internet browser :D

And don't worry, there are plenty that still believe that IE is still the only browser. I only just showed my mum recently that there is a better way to browse the net.

Even before I started using PC's fulltime, I thought IE was the the only way to access the net.

I wouldn't be suprised if there were members here that believe Internet Explorer is the only way to access the net.

With start up there should be an option to download one of the popular internet browsers to your computer, perhaps Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome and you can pick which one you want.

that was suggested by someone in the EU.
It's highly insecure, doesn't display pages properly and ignores web standards. It's an absolute pain in the arse to make websites work properly on it for this reason.

just because someone suggested it does not mean anyone took them seriously. We'll see what happens. Personally I wouldnt be surprised if europeans get a crippled version of windows as a result.

Actually i have to agree there. Isn't IE built into Windows instead of just being an extension or whatever it's called. So removing it, i believe will cause a bit of a problem "/

yes, it's heavily integrated and removing it will be a major undertaking, especially if they don't want to cripple anything. Having said that, the deep integration is actually the source of more than a few major security flaws in windows (or at least makes them more serious than they need to be), so this isn't necessarily a bad move.

As much as I dislike IE I think this is too damn stupid, Microsoft have made a product that a lot of people use, and for that sole reason it's anti-competitive. It's like with everything else in Europe, success is forbidden; tax is extremely high on the last money earned, and now if you become too big they feed you this crap. By the same measure explorer and minesweeper should be removed, people obviously aren't going to download other explorer programs or minesweeper games when they come bundled with Windows!
