First off all: Romulation is my last hope to fix the problem

I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit and since some days I cant connect to Windows Update, Windows Defender Update and I cant download anythink from the microsoft page. Firefox says (free translated) "Firefox cant open the page" In Windows Update I get the error code 80244019.
I google a long time and on some pages people have trojans on their PCs but my is clean (avast, avira, ad-adware, spybot) and on some other pages stands, that it should help to delete a folder in the regestry, but this folder didn´t exist on my regedit.

I hope some of you can help me and if i miss some specific informations please ask!

    These sites dont help

You can't ever use windows update in firefox; blame Microsoft for that. I don't use vista, but I'll look around for a solution

That's probably the problem. Microsoft forces you to use Internet Explorer when using their Windows Update website.

And don't worry, if you just use Internet Explorer for the Windows Updates, it will be safe enough. It's when you use IE for surfing pornography and "warez" that the majority of problems happen ;)

Not likely but is your copy of Windows legit? That happens to Bootleg copies.

windows update has a habit of failing for no reason, when you look up the error code it says something to the effect of 'unknown error'

Yes, its my legal copy of windows, but its not only the problem with windows update, i cant download ANYTHINK from the microsoft page and dont know why! Is there a possibility that it has conflikts with sony vegas 7.0e! I install this on the day ive got the last succesfull update for windows. The installer comes together with a MySQL-Server! (I deinstalled th eMySQL-server right now)

mysql won't do anything to vista, and I doubt vegas will either. most likely the last update you got broke something.

check the services to make sure none of the sql services are running.

no sql-services running! I think, its not the source of the problem, because i deleated all paths and uninstall all sql-programs (removing the service at deinstall)

are you on a LAN by any chance (i.e with a local update server or a proxy)?

I have 2 PCs in my room and go on LAN-Partys ca every 14 days, but i dont want to download the updates on one PC to get it to another. When their is no other possibility i have to reinstall windows! Any way to save the profile from mousometer (sidebar gadget)?

I'm asking because the error codes in the log relate to windows server update services and specific proxy software.
