I tried to put a brief description of a new game onto the site yesterday, but it looks like comments are not being allowed? I just wondered why. I rely on other users' helpful comments to find out what a game is about rather than having to trawl the 'net to see if its something I might like to download.
Well, there are two buttons. Left - Get Help with the game. Right - Post my opinion on the game. If you're posting tech help, then you need to post in the forum. If you're posting an opinion on the game, then click the right button. If you're asking if it's good or not, then ask in the forums.
Yes, that's what I did. I clicked on the button to post my opinion and left a short description of what the game was about. When I went back after about 5 minutes, it wasn't there. There have been no comments on any of the recently uploaded games, if you look. That just isn't normal.
That happened with me. I saw this topic and made a comment on a random game. But then I checked again and it wasn't there.
Maybe it has to go through moderation first? That would help drastically to get rid of spamming and tech help.
It might would help, but it would be very inefficient and kinda stupid really, considering the mass of posts and the over-worked admins having no time to take care of something that would need such moderation. What's the point of having a comment system if it takes a week to see a post? Either way i highly doubt that's whats going on and it should be up before too long. (hopes)
Yes, I can understand the Moderators must be frustrated having to weed out all the comments that belong in the forum, but I miss the game descriptions people supply. I think everything's being blocked because some people are abusing the system.
Comments were being accepted, there was an issue with the index generation, though, causing new comments to not be indexed and thus not shown.
To be fair though, a majority of the comments sucked(Not saying the OP's comment was bad however) so I guess it isn't all bad.
Not only are they there now, but they are all fancy with new features! Looking good Seph. The US server is back up too, but just as boned as ever. It keeps timing out when i try to use it. *EDIT* Little problem with the comments page. When i go to the comments page on a game and hit the back button, it just reloads the comment page instead of going back to the pre-game select page that it used to. Also at times i have had to hit the back button 3+ times to get out of the comments page.
That would be because you've browsed the comments, each page is a page load so when you go back a page you go back to the previous comment page you were on.
