So on my DSi it lts me select my access point, but the problem is I don't think the connection actually has a WEP key (that we set up). It has a normal password to it but we don't use WEP.
So do I need to set up a WEP key or what else can I do?
(Or is there like a standard password?)

The DSi can use WPA as well as WEP.
There is no standard password, it depends on who set it up.

But, I think the DS games for the DS that have WiFi won't work on the DSi using WPA, rather than WEP. I remember that being said by nintendo when the DSi first came out.

Refer to this for a step by step on how to setup your DS to connect to Nintendo WiFi.

So does the internet settings I use on my DS count as the wi-fi settings then?

Yes. The WiFi/Internet, it's the same thing. Your DS/DSi connects to Nintendo WiFi using the internet.

But since I don't use WEP, i cannot go online with DS games?
That kinda sucks, does that mean the new pokemon games as well? :(

You can try it. I can't find anything about it on Nintendo's official site, just info given on forums about it not working.

If you desperate, change the settings on the router to wep, or find another access point like a mc donalds one.

I'm inclined to think that the new pokemon games still use WEP of all things, I might research into this...

I personally changed my wireless router to WEP. But I live in a secluded area with no close neighbors and no threat of anyone trying to use my connection.

It really pisses me off when I can't use wi-fi...
