Nintendo releases DSi FW 1.4.1/1.4.2 - Blocks some current flashcards

Nintendo has just blocked flashards on the DSi yet again with the release of firmware update 1.4.1 today. And 1.4.2 later.

Nintendo's system menu update page says the new firmware provides "behind-the-scenes improvements", but as expected that is really just PR speak for "no more homebrew for you". This is the first incremental update for the DSi in over a year, yet at this stage there does not seem to be any new features for the DSi.

Someone should call Nintendo and ask what "behind the scenes improvements" actually means, i'd like to see what they say. And with that Nintendo has Destroyed DS piracy FOREVER!!!!! (or for atleast a day) Go Nintendo, you finally win.

Until the new flashcard firmware updates anyway... and on that note I'll say it again. I love my DS Lite. Mwahaha

lulz. No reason to update anyway then.

If the SC team releases a 1.4.1 update for the DSTWO I will install it and update my DSi.

the sad, sad irony - I am literally heading out to grab a new DSi XL (as my DSi broke) and am all paranoid about this new firmware. Fortunately the units have likely been sitting in a warehouse since who-knows-when, I'm just hoping the firmware wasn't added to new units previously and the online update wasn't staggered until now or something stupid.

Guess I'll find out soon enough.

 

I'm waiting before I buy a new DS anyway, I want a 3DS so I'll wait. Dunno how long it'll take though.

 

okay, the DSiXL works fine so I can just avoid the update. I'd love a 3DS but I'm legally blind in one eye so the whole 3D thing doesn't work well for me.
