Hi, I need help. Whenever I switch my ds phat on, it goes straightly to the menu with the pictochat & ds download play. The nintendo ds logo doesn't appear, the one with the 'touch the screen to continue'. I tried gba games, original nds games, and a flashcart but it's all the same. My settings is at manual mode. i think this is not normal?

Did you flash your DS or buy it off someone who may have? FlashMe is capable of removing/skipping (not sure which) the health and safety screen.

Thanks, and sorry for the noob question. FlashMe? Is there any way to return it?

FlashMe is a (now somewhat archaic) replacement firmware that allows one to run DS code from slot-2. Now that slot-1 flashcarts exist, it's no longer necessary, though it does provide a way to restore one's DS in the rare event of a bricking.

You can get the uninstaller from the official FlashMe homepage, but it's probably safer not to use it unless you're sure your DS has been flashed. Did you buy it preowned or new? Does it really matter if you don't see the logo?

yes, I bought it preowned. Thanks for filling me up. Is this the only reason why the logo doesn't appear? If I would uninstall this flashme, is there any possibility for some sort of damage? It doesn't really matter to me but I thought it affects the overall condition of the DS?

It's the only reason I can think of that the logo wouldn't show, which probably means it's the only possible reason there is.

Your DS is probably better off with FlashMe than without. As I said, in the rare event of a bricking, a flashed DS can be recovered. It may look odd if you have to send your DS in for repairs, but I highly doubt anyone will know or care.

Other than that, your DS will be fine and continue to function as otherwise.

EDIT: Flashing vital firmware of any device typically carries with it a risk of failure potentially resulting in a bricking. The chances are low, though; presumably they'd be even lower when uninstalling, assuming the recovery code is overwritten last (which common sense dictates should happen).

Thank you very much, it helped me a lot. I hope this won't affect some games like pokemon heartgold & soulsilver. This site is more than just roms, it's really great, and the people too.

It should be fine, but post back if that happens.
