Newbie needs help with ds download

Hi

I have tried to follow the 'foolproof' tutorial for the R4DS and have managed to download a couple of games and WINRAR and NO$GBA.

I get the message 'Couldn't find_DS_menu.dat' on the DS when I insert the R4. What am I doing wrong or do I need to download something else. I wasn't sure what the Kernal was or where to find it!

Please help as I have spent hours on this and it still won't work.

You need to load the firmware files for your R4 onto the card. Go to www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds and download the latest version for your card.

And you don't need no$gba if you are going to be using your R4 flashcart. no$gba is an emulator for your PC that can play some Nintendo DS games.

 

You need to go to http://linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ and download the firmware. Make sure you get the right one for your card, as there are many different "R4s" and they all need different firmawre. Just put the contents of the .zip folder directly onto your microSD.

 

Thanks for replying, but how do I know which is the right one to download? I have tried several and still no joy. The card just says R4 on it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

When and where did you buy it?

Does it have any packaging that came with it? If so can you post pictures (digital camera, scanner, etc.)
