1.5 will most likely not be custom firmware, I dont know a lot about the early firmwares with regards to downgrading/upgrading. I think 1.5 was the origional firmware witch allows playing ISOs from the memory card but im not sure. Ill look into it.

You can upgrade to custom firmware strait from 1.5 without using a pandoras battery by using an app/crack called kxploitpatcher.

Alo I would suggest updating to the latest CFW which can be found at dark_alex's homepage.

Heres a tutorial I found, hope it makes sense.

    From 1.50 install 3.52 M33
    http://exophase.com/psp/download/3.52M33.zip

1 - If you are under official 1.50 PSP firmware, copy kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders from "1.50only/" of this download to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME/" and use it.
2 - Once done it, or if you are under any Special/Open Edition/M33, copy M33CREATOR folder to your "ms0:/PSP/GAME" (1.50fw) or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150" (SE/OE)
3 - Download official 3.52 eboot, rename it to 352.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
4 - Download official 1.50 eboot, rename it to 150.PBP and place it on "ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33CREATOR/"
5 - Go to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.52 M33 CREATOR". Once finished, it will go back to the XMB.
6 - Go again to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute "3.52 M33UPDATE". You'll have to press X to agree to the installation.
7 - When finished, press X to shut down and reboot manually.
    8 - Enjoy your 3.52 M33

    Install 3.52 M33 Update 4
    http://exophase.com/files/psp/M33-1234.zipù
(If Psp Say "The game could not be started. Error (80020148)" do so:
Force turn off Psp. Press and hold press "R" button while turn on the psp.
Now you are in "Recovery menu".
Go on "configuration" and press "X" button.
Now go on "Game folder homebrew" and set it on "(currently: 1.50 Kernel)".

Put "M33Update4" folder in "GAME150" and run update.
    (Ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33UPDATE4/EBOOT.BPB)

    Install 3.80 M33
    http://forums.maxconsole.net/attachm...7&d=1200319960

thanks for the help, but b4 I do the upgrade i just want to know: will it be possible for me to downgrade back to 1.5 again after i upgrade to the custom firmware? Cause it's actually my sister's psp and I want to be able to downgrade again if for some reason my sister doesn't like it after i upgraded for her.

It is possible with a pandora's battery but downgrading is pointless if she doesn't what it custom she should upgrade it to a normal higher firmware because otherwise she won't be able to play new games from late 2006 onwards...

as far as I know its no longer possible to downgrade to 1.5. The new custom firmware is much better anyhow, and phat PSPs have a 1.5 kernel addon which gives full 1.5 compatability anyway.

Wouldn't you be able to downgrade in the same way as a non custom psp would be done?

  8. Almo

perhaps on a phat PSP but not on slims, though 1.5 is pretty much obsolete

I thought as much... And 1.5 does suck

I did some research and found that the latest custom firmware is 5.00 m33 ...should i update it to that?

    cjdogger Guest

I think there is some problems with updating all the way up to the highest firmware at once...

from 1.50 update to 3.52M33 first, then to 3.71M33 and then to 3.80M33, then you should be able to update to 5.00M33 without any problems.
