okay, i got it sitting flat (like on it's bottom), and it seems, on the right side (from me) it is getting VERY hot...but the left side has no heat what-so-ever...normal? cuz it's a brand new, just outta the box, 250GB XBOX 360 slim...and i'm worried about the heat...do they make external fans for it like the older 360's? what is the chance of it dieing cuz of the heat? should i be worried?
first, the xbox is better if you put it standing up, the vents work better this way, allowing it to get warn not so fast. also, i was reading around and it says it has been made to kinda not have the same issues as the older xbox (RROD). what this xbox does is that it turns off if it starts reaching temperatures that gave the rrod. if they make fans, you could get it, i dont say get it because if you have warranty on the xbox, it is voided for some reason for using external fans, so i would say get it but its up to you
hmmm...well...it turns out i was feeling the fan on the top -.-" it wasn't overheating ^_^ and WOW...never knew external fans voided warranties... good thing i sold me old 360
I believe this is false. The side of the Xbox that it stands on when standing up right is the one of the few sides that actually have air vents. By standing it on this side, you restrict airflow through the largest of the vents. By laying it flat, you keep this side open. Personally I have mine on a wire game rack, it has at least six inches of space around all the sides.
