I had to remove v2 a while ago and I just used CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ , it seemed to do the trick with no problems.

CCleaner will help remove any remnants of uninstall programs, including registry entries, etc. Give it a whirl and see if you can get it removed.

Nope, I used Windows Install Cleanup Utility, I think it removed the installation entries leaving several remnants behind...

Which is why I said run a program like CCleaner which can clean up abandoned registry entries, etc...

    I just use Revo.

    What is Revo?

Okay, it seems that when I uninstalled using Windows Install cleanup utility, it got rid of the old version but not the 3.5 SP1 version although I used it with it confirming it was removed but it is right now present and unupdate-able...

I tried using CCleaner but to no result...I just wanted to remove the Net Framework Assistant from my Firefox add-ons and this is what happens.

Uninstaller program. Searches thoroughly for leftover registry entries etc. after built-in uninstall.

It's not the uninstall entry you are looking for. It's the orphaned registry values you need to fine. Abandoned bits of information in your registry that were left after it was uninstalled.
