    spending less than $60usd = 45eur.
    pci express
requiring a core of 300W or less
I need a video card with an s-video output or something similar.

    if s-video,
i will be running a S-Video + Audio to 3 RCA Cable to a 32" tv. the audio jack will run a Y splitter, pc speakers and the cable.

this is to get the pc into another room for movie viewing and relaxing off the pc chair. i'm doing a job for someone of lesser vision than myself, of which is poor on it's own. that is the point of the project.

i believe it is a 14ft distance, and it should be extending about a ft past recommended for that type of output.

i've been working on this for a while, need to outsource to smarter people. hi smarter people.

you'd be looking at either an early geforce (low end 6 series or earlier) or a pre- X-series radeon for that power consumption, good luck trying to find a PCI-E one of those. I'd still bump the PSU up to a 400W-500W and get something newer though.

some of the x-series should be fine as long as its not a supped up one.

i have a ati x1650 and its prefect you can pick them up for half the price your talking about and i use it for the exact purpose your talking about doing
i have a an s-video+audio jack running to scart that runs round my room to my 32" tv (the big type)

tips make sure the tv has a s-video channel or similar as it can be flickery otherwise (unless its an lcd you've got) and lower resolutions look allot better on the tvs but it will only allow you to take it to the tv's max resolution anyway so not to worry

i have the tv as an extended desktop and is set it to open videos full screen on it (in theater settings)

this is a very easy card to use but of coarse you should be able to do the same with most cards.

make sure you check the power requirements of it though, you're probably pushing 300W as it is.

guess it depends what else he has

this is the consumption on the xt model

yeah, 55W, it will be too close for my liking.

but if its video use only should it not be ok?

but then for the price of the card some cash is left over for a better psu?

so its a dell your putting the card in?

before you go buying anything make sure it actually has a slot for a GFX card as i have opened many dells that don't

and can you clear up what you meant by the power wattage, did you mean your psu is 300w or you can have a card up to 300w?

sorry bout that. yes there should be a free pciE slot, said so in the book last i knew.
"e510 specs" so the entire pc can only run 305 max.

    i would not risk a GeForce 8500 GT with a 300w psu

I wouldnt risk anything with a 300W PSU, especially not in a dell.

is it a standard ATX PSU or a custom one? if its standard you can replace it with a higher rated one.

you can try tigerdirect.com or something. theres a lot of specs to check out before your final decisions and a good site to use for references...

Some new some refurbs, both are dirt cheap minus shipping costs I guess.

or what everyone else says , upgrade your power supply.

Both are relatively cheap these days.

i have a nvidia gforce fx 5500 in my dimension 2400, it doesn't have any better a core. maybe actually under 300w

i wouldn't run a 4650 on a 300w psu (it will go bang), i would of suggested that card otherwise
