Hello. My friend's dog chewed up her DS lite. The DS plays fine but the shell has gnaw marks everywhere and the hinge is so loose that the top half just flops around. I'm more of a technical person than her so I would like to try and replace the shell. She couldn't stand things so she bought herself a new DS for X-Mas, so it's somewhat okay if I ruin the damaged one. Just wondering if anyone one reading has replaced their DS lite shell, and wondering where you purchased it? I see DealExtreme.com and eBay are options. Guess I would order from DealExtreme unless anyone has other suggestions. Thanks.
NDS-Central are the only other site I know of. Deal Extreme is a good place to get one from, the only problem with them is slow shipping. Unless you plan on paying extra for shipping it will probably take minimum around a week, maximum one or two months, to arrive. For instructions just do a google search on keywords like replacement ds shell, there are alot of guides and even a number of youtube videos around.
I would say dealextreme. Cheap, takes a while, but good selection of replica special editions. I just got the one I ordered from there, looked great aside from USPS man handling the package and cracking the shell. Ebay could be an option but it's likely to be from the same suppliers DX gets theirs from if not worse.
replacing the shell is easy and cheap just go on ebay and u have your pic of loads of styles and it can be cheap or pricey depending on what you want but its not as much as most dedicated mod shops. don't forget you need to buy a tri star screw driver or you won't get the thing open, but then again if you have a look allot of the ones on ebay come with it. and just google for tutorials there arre a few good videos about and if you struggle finding it google one of the brand names in with your search and it should come up
