I recently installed Free McBoot on my PS2 slim via the 007 Agent Under Fire exploit and am looking for games that are worth getting.

Due to having to ESR patch every game, I'm limited to this ESR compatibility list:
    http://projectblacktower.org/index.php?topic=166.0

...and therefore, I can only take suggestions that are on that list. I guess if it's not listed then it's unconfirmed since there are some on there that are confirmed as "not working."

I would go and buy these games, since they're all around $5 now, but the problem is not the price, but actually finding an available copy. Finding a copy of Grandia II is next to impossible to find at a used game store specifically catered to older generation consoles.

And because some games are Japan-only and most likely needs a translation patch applied (like FFXII IZJS, or Namco X Capcom), the only way I can play them is if I use burned discs.

    Oh, and RPGs are welcome.

Games I already have on that list:
    Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
    Final Fantasy X International
Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System (English patch)
Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories
Mana Khemia 2: Fall of Alchemy
    Need for Speed Underground 2
Need for Speed Carbon Collector's Edition
    Odin Sphere
    Rogue Galaxy
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES
    Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
    Tales of the Abyss
    True Crime: New York City

    Other games I have:
    007 Agent Under Fire
    Dark Cloud
    Dark Cloud 2
    Dragonball Z Budokai
    Dynasty Warriors 3
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus
    Final Fantasy X
    Final Fantasy X-2
    Final Fantasy XII Collector's Edition
    Gran Turismo 4
    Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
    Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
    Guitar Hero
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
    Jak and Daxter
    Kingdom Hearts
    Kingdom Hearts 2
    Need for Speed: Carbon
    Star Wars Battlefront II
    Test Drive Unlimited

Games that I have played that are ports/remakes of the PS2 versions:
    Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
    Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days
    God of War Collection
    Mana Khemia: Student Alliance
    Resident Evil 4 Wii
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable
    Tomb Raider Trilogy

And by this stretch, you can also recommend PSP (or whatever system) ports/remakes if the port/remake is exactly like the PS2 original (or has extra content like Persona 3).

    Good example would be:
Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX) --> Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (PSP)

    Bad example would be:
Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX) --> Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA)

Ico looked pretty good from the demo, never got around to playing the full game.

When I bought 007 AUF, I did look for this game. Of course, something with that high of review would go fast if they had it in stock.

Of course it's not on the list, so I'd be taking a gamble on it working.

I hate Square-Enix for making so many goddamn extra content-Japan-exclusive re-releases.

Where would you put it in relation to Persona 3 FES?
    Better? Worse? Just as good?

    Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
    Ar Tonelico
    Ar Tonelico 2
    Atelier Iris
    Atelier Iris 2
    Atelier Iris 3
Star Ocean Till the End of Time
    Suikoden III
    Suikoden IV
    Suikoden V
MS Saga: A New Dawn (If you like Gundams)

A few RPGs off the top of my head that I can point your way.

Mechanics and gameplay-wise, Persona 4 blows 3 out of the water.

I preferred 3's story though. That one is more of an opinion thing though.

If you liked Mana Khemia, you should give the second one a spin. Not quite as good as the first one IMO but it's pretty decent overall.

Oh, and definitely give Rogue Galaxy a spin. Dragon Quest VIII too.

Thanks for the suggestions. I managed to get quite a few, and updated the list.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life is alright, if you like HM games

Not on the ESR list, which means, it's a gamble on whether it will work with my setup.
    Thanks for the suggestion though.

I looked into Rogue Galaxy, and saw that it has two discs. Sold.
Also grabbing Dragon Quest VIII. 100+ hour game? Sold.

    I second this.
    --------------------------------
Dragon Ball Z Infinite World, even though it's not on that list. It's better than Budokai 3 imo.

Another one you could try out is Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits

It has an interesting battle system IMO.

If you've ever played Legend of Legaia and liked it, you might be interested in giving Legaia 2: Duel Saga a shot too.

I'd recommend Growlanser III as well but it looks like that doesn't work according to your list there. Easily one of my favorite tactical RPGs.

Only other games that come to mind at the moment are Odin Sphere, Radiata Stories and Suikoden V.

Looking at all this now, I think I finally know why I needed 5 memory cards. I'm only on the tip of the iceberg here. :p

Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkachi 3
    Final Fantasy 12
    Tales of Legendia
    Wild Arms 5
    King of Fighter XI
    Ar Tonelico 1 & 2

And they'll be more once I remember.I'll dig in my PCSX2's game directory.

I just tested Need for Speed Underground 2, which wasn't on the ESR list, and it worked so I guess all suggestions are fair game as long as it isn't explicitly stated as "Not Working."

I'm running out of DVD5s again...

I'm glad FFXII International has a speed up option or else I would not be replaying it. And I'm glad they took out the stupid requirements to get the Zodiac Spear or else I would have to restart, and I would have said screw it.

This is why I got a 64 MB memory card. It takes forever to load or save anything, but well worth it due to the capacity.

Then there is something wrong with it. A larger card should not take longer to load or save.

It's a MAX Memory card. It's always been that slow.

Also, I gotta add that it's cheaply made...

my 32MB memor32 loads and saves just as fast as my official 8MB ones.

  18. insanecrazy07

Except that it isn't a 64 MB one...

A friend of mine has the same memory card and I asked him today if the card reads and writes slower than the normal 8 MB ones and he confirmed it.

I know for a fact that my 16 GB microSD cards take longer to save games on my DS than the smaller 1 GB cards. That may or may not support my argument though...

There's no technical reason for a bigger one to be slower, so it comes down to inferior components or manufacturing

loony's right, it all comes down to bus speeds which are independent of the storage space.
