I couldn't think of anywhere else to go to get some help so I came here~ I'm running Vista 64x Home Premium just in case somebody wants to know, I recently got Clear wireless internet, I hooked it up and everything was pretty much great as far as wireless goes. after about 36hours or so of me having it it went basically from 100% to 0% on the good scale. I am not even using that internet service to post this its so bad. I have a great signal and my rssi is about -75 so i know its not signal, I already contacted the tech support and actually got somebody helpful, problem is even HE was stumped. He made two tickets one for possible outage of the tower and one for speed issues. we went through everything from trying to get a tracert to basic settings. The possible outage ticket has been removed as a possible problem so far but the speed issue is obviously still there. from what i can tell I am having extreme packet loss, I try to load up a website and it takes so long it just times out. Problem is when i ping something it pings decently for wireless, im not that much into online gaming anymore so i could care less about it. I do have another wireless internet running to the area im in but if it was interference then I am rather sure that I would have not had that 36 hours or so of great internet. Only thing I can think of is maybe the router is sorta messed up? Damn im lost. I have tried any and everything on my end, resetting all my settings and all the routers settings, done everything I can think of so I am asking for any advice if anybody has a damn idea what to try.
Mate, one earnest advice just to make you know........85% critics arguably win in the topic that XP wins over vista. Better switch to that, if you can. Sorry, for not able to post something that would help ya~
Wireless broadband is heavily dependent on how many other people are using it on the same tower. Patton may be able to help further. What technology is it using? (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA/CDMA)?
Sorry about the delay, this is all I could find about anything technology related. "CLEAR runs on an extremely secure network using WiMAX 4G technologies. WiMAX broadcasts in a licensed spectrum using OFDM technology. This technology uses a licensed 2.5 Ghz frequency and ensures secure wireless data transmission." Not sure if thats what you need but thats all i can find, its Clear.com fyi. Still doing the same thing too. PS. Also I have like 4 days left on my 7 day return policy for all money back thing so I am slightly stressing here, not like if I wait longer they wont be forced to give my money back but it will be harder to prove and harder to explain why i didnt do it earlier if my internet wasnt working. How can a network go from working great to not loading a single webpage in a split second without any changes on my end? not to mention having it stay that way for 24 hours now. Anyway, any advice would rock. Thanks.
hmm wimax. It's possible the tower is overloaded. I'll get patton to post here, he's an expert on wireless.
Interesting issue there, though it is not uncommon... Have you taken your modem around the house to test? Do you have a line of sight to the tower? Have you tried to swap out your modem/replace it yet? There are a number of things that can be factoring into your problem here, but I do not think a tower overload would be your problem (at least not now, as the Clear network isn't that congested...yet) What city/state are you located in?
It seems to have been on their end after all. It just randomly started working this afternoon. I hope it stays that way. Anyway this can be closed. Thanks.
