Need some rookie help

Hey everyone,

I just bought a Nintendo DS Lite, with R4, but I don't understand a shit out of it.
Can someone explain how to put games on it and make them work?
And, why can't I download NDS Games? If I click "downloads" the NDS downloads is striketrough'd

first of all....which R4 did you buy? if you can give us a screen shot, or something telling us which it is (or the website on your card) then we can help you to a greater extent.

 

Oh, are there more types?
On the card it says:
R4
Revolution for DS
(NDSL/NDS)

When I turn on the console there's in the left-bottom of the screen "v1.18"

 

okay, thank you. now my recommendation for first of all, is if you have nothing on it yet, is to delete everything (firmware) and put on wood R4, will link you here in a second....

click on the download for v1.10
then extract the files using a program known as winrar, if you don't have it, get it from here: http://www.rarlabs.com

then extract it to your micro SD card....once you do that, more advice will follow...

Alright I'll download it. But can you give me advise how to extract it? I mean, should I delete ANYTHING else on my R4 card?

 

okay, you will delete everything (since i doubt you have any games on it yet)

you will need to download winrar from http://www.rarlabs.com

if you need help finding the download, i will direct link you.

 

I can only find, when I open that in My Computer _DS_MSHL.SAV
Should I delete that and then put that downloaded file back in there?

then right-click the file you just downloaded, and click extract here...

then you wanna open each folder inside the folder, until you see the following 2 items,

_rpg
_DS_MENU.DAT

when you see those to files, you wanna highlight them both, and right click, copy, then go to your micro SD card from my computer, then right click, paste in the empty area...

 

If you have winrar installed on your pc then you can extract any files from the .rar arcive's

 

when he extracts it, he will get a folder called,
wood_r4_v1.10

he needs to open it, then open the one that shows up, then copy the 2 items to his micro SD card....

 

I copied them to my SD Card

okay, now were going to test to make sure it works before i direct you to the games. your going to eject the SD card (by going to task bar, and clicking- properly remove, or something like that...) take out your SD card, put it in the R4, put the R4 in the DS, and see what happens from there.

BTW, you're using a DS phat/DS lite, correct?

Yes, I have NDS Lite.

Now I see when I click "microSD Card" a folder with "Games" and "__rpg/"
