Hi! Lately I've been trying to run what I believe are called "homebrew" stuff in my modded PSP. Oh, here's what I know about my PSP: -it's the slim kind -4.01 M33-2 firmware The stuff I'm trying to run are: -gpsp (a GBA emulator) -Fate/Stay Night (Japanese) After downloading and extracting these files I get: -1 folder eg. "gpsp", "FATE_________" -1 folder with the exact same name, only with a % eg. "gpsp%", "FATE________%" According to the sites I got them from, I'm supposed to put them in the "GAME" folder in the "PSP" folder - which I did. After I did that, when I accessed my memory stick, 2 things would show up: For Fate/Stay Night -ONscript (something like that) -corrupted data For gpsp -gpsp -corrupted data When I looked into the folders both folder 1 (eg. gpsp) and the % folder (eg. gpsp%) had an "EBOOT.PBP" in them, though folder 1 had a bunch more stuff in it. When I tried running these things, it would play the PSP logo, then turn black, then tell me that it could not be read, or something like that. I tried running it on Recovery mode, selecting "Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP" but the same thing would happen. As many of you can tell, I have very limited knowledge of these things, so if anyone can help me out with these, it would be very much appreciated. Oh yeah, I read somewhere in this forum that something called a kernel 1.50 (I think) was needed to run homebrew. I would think that my buddy who modded my PSP for me would've done that too, but I'm not too sure anymore. I'd ask him to help out, but he moved already. Anyways, please help me out!
Re: Need help running \"EBOOT.PBP\" stuff on PSP Try "eloader". But...my version of those program didn't have the "%" folders-you downloaded the versions for psp phat's I beleive. The phat psp's can run those-for slim you need eloader-but...you don't need the perticular versions. Avoid anything that is "for phat psp's" for the slim unless it only comes in that format. Try these. http://dl.qj.net/gpSP-mod-20090720-PSP-Emulators/pg/12/fid/27418/catid/122 This is what I use-but it needs a bios that is compatible. As for fate/stay night.... Is that a psx game, psp game or something from the psn store downloaded via other means? Post Merge: [time]1255385609[/time] Oh and update your firmware-ethier 5.00m33v6 or 5.50GEN-B2 would be helpful. Just for future games ;D
Hi quizno you dont need the folders with % in them just search around the internet for 150.pbp or sumthin put it in the root of you memstick and if you want to run things with the 1.50 kernal create the folder memsitck:\psp\GAME150 and put it in there as well as when you are in the menu of your psp push select and choose "UMD ISO MODE" and switchit to M33 driver then you wont have any homebrew problems
Alright, both gpsp and Fate/Stay Night works now. Thanks everyone. mds64 - eloader worked! Thank you! For now, I'll use the original gpsp that I got. I'm not too sure what a BIOS is, even after reading the instructions . . . Oh, Fate/Stay Night is a visual novel. I suppose someone managed to make a PSP version, I don't think that it's an actual PSP game though. It seems that only a Japanese version exists, I myself wonder what I'll do with it now . . . Also, thanks for informing me about the update. I updated before putting in eloader, so I'm not sure what effect it had, but the update (5.00 M33-6) should allow me to play the newer PSP games right? dracky w - For the ones I have at the moment, the % folder apparently needs to be there. Without the % folder, the stuff becomes corrupted. For now, I'm using eloader, but I also switched the UMD ISO MODE to M33 driver as you've suggested.
5.00m33 Can play MOST newer games. The latest (need for speed shift, dirt 2, dissidia final fantasy, soul caliber, etc) might need a patch to by pass the 5.55 firmware update block. I can link you up if you need-I lost the guide I made...but it was pointless. At least now-the patch is a a simple process... However. www.pspisoz.com They carry iso's prepatched-wether or not they are for m33 or GEN is another matter. And...I'd use the non original gpsp-as in for slim. It doesn;t have the annoying % folder. And I'm about to try dracky's suggestion-I'm sick of using eloader
Oh, so that's why all the ISOs I got there worked fine - they're prepatched. Less work for me! As for eloader, it is a bit bothersome scrolling down to eloader when the game you wanted has shown up much earlier. And waiting for eloader to load and then starting your game is also a bother.
Re: Need help running \"EBOOT.PBP\" stuff on PSP Hrm, I'm about to try dracky's idea. Worth a shot-GAME150 folder, ram the games inside (if they fail to show-delete the % folders), and go... But there is an option in the recovery menu that needs to be set-the kernal mode-needs to be on "1.50" mode-normally it's set to "5.00" mode. Once I get something I'll let you knowhow it went. Post Merge: [time]1255786005[/time] I tried it-it works. Make a "GAME150" folder, and have both the Normal and % folders in. But you need to set the kernal mode in recovery mode to "1.50" and have the "150.php" inside the root of the memory stick. MUCH easier than using eloader XD
