I have updated to Gen-b and am stuck. The Gen-a and Gen-b were installed by a single update folder for each, which was simple enough.

But I notice that the Gen-d firmware isnt as straightforward. There is an update folder, which contains a file called EBOOT.PBP,and there is another file called 550.PBP.

What do I need to do now....

550.pbp is the official 5.5 firmware, it's needed to run the GEN D update. The eboot.pbp is the Gen D update.

Just put it all on your memory stick, run the GEN d update. If you don't have the 550.pbp then it will fault saying it cannot find the 5.50 official firmware.

That is exactly right Tirith.I wondered why there was that "extra" file in the Gen-d kit.Ive done what you said and it worked cheers,

I notice that the GBA emulator I had has "disappeared" after I did the gen-D/D2 update.Do you know where I can get one that works, otherwise I may have to revert back to 5.00m33-6 cfw.

I would also require a working bios file, which are difficult to find...

There is a thread in the Technical Help section, it used to be a sticky called "How to get problematic GBA games to work on VBA" or something similar to that.
It had a link to a working GBA Bios. You just need to rename it to the bios.bin or what ever the GBA emulator requires.

I have not tried to run the GBA emulator on GEN D2, my PSP is still 5.00M33-6, and my brothers is GEN D2, but he only plays PSP games on his.

www.pspslimhacks.com might have a GBA emulator version that works on GEN D2, or you can search on qj.net

OK Tirth.Ill check out the first half of your post, but I dont think that GEN-D runs the emulator, pity I didnt know that.Ive checked out several emulators, but they both have error messages about missing bios. The only stuff Ive seen about GEN-D working was with a PSP Phat, why I dont know.....

EDIT-If I cant get it to work Tirith, what is the best way to get it back to 5.00m33-6.....

Download Hellcat's Recovery Flasher and read the readme. You need to OFC 5.00 EBOOT.pbp, renamed as 500.pbp, and place them in the right places. Then start it up and select the second option. wait for it to finish then it will be in 5.00m33v6.

First, try updating to GEN-D2, getting the Ultimate vshmenu and installing it, go into recovery mode, select configuration, and select 5.xx kernel to change it to 1.50 kernel.

gpSP-J works fine on my PSP, even without 1.50 kernel. You need to translate the readme from jap to english.

Sorry for the double post, but I found a list of good GBA bios.

Hey, it works for me fine.

I didn't see an issue with anything. I immediately updated to GEN-D2, which probably solved my problems before they even happened.

Gen works perfectly for me. you have a phat or 2000?

the Gen installer just needs the 550.pbp update on the root of the memory stick and then the update in the /PSP/Game folder. run it and then you should have GEN-B or Gen-D and then just run the patch for Gen D-2.

The 3000 cannot do anything if it's above 5.03 (5.50 has an exploit based on a save game but you need that actual game).

So if you are lucky, your 3000 will be at 5.03 or less, otherwise you will be out of luck.

As I stated in my support pm's, a newer version of the emulator, with the right bios would help.

I was going to send you mine, but after you told me what your son did I thought maybe he needs a break off the games if he's gonna break stuff and expect it to be running again.

GEN D is weird,...but once you get GEN D-2 it works the same as m33, just works with newer games, however there are patches availble for the newer games to get them working with GEN firmware, it's just cumbersome.

What newer emulator and what bios LOL-them files you said were as much use as a chocolate tea-pot.Maybe somebody is using Gen-d2 and a GBA emulator-or maybe people are just "expecting" them to be compatible.

Anyway,Ive got that Little Big Planet running on 5.00m33-6.It does take a few minutes more than expected to launch and in between menus-but its free LOL.

As for the DSlite getting snapped in half,it was no problem buying a new one.I lost the same amount playing poker on Betfair on Friday, and I didnt care about that LOL

That's good you got that working (little big planet) as I was planning on that myself...now for the issues even though it kinda doesn't matter.

I use "gpspMOD" version it seems (has a picture of a cat playing a gba) with the bios I was trying to locate...the one i previously used refused to work, it seems there is more than one gba bios.

The one for the micro and the older gbas.

This one I use needs the micro bios...when I get the chance as I'm busy, I might upload it.
